I'm using UMF5 and i'm trying to burn movie (2 hours long) to DVD.
i don't have "fit and burn" (see above) and if i change from 7000 kbs to 2500 kbs the size of the movie change from 4.92G to 4.91G ( Thats all !!).
How can i fit the movie to DVD 4.7G ??

still...
Thanks for the reply.
"One way is to use fit and burn". where is the "fit and burn" in moviefactory 5 ??
while i try to change the bit rate in the Project Settings it does'nt effect my "Required/Available hard disk space" (when i changed from 7000kbs to 2500kbs the "required" changed from 4.92G to 4.91G...)
anyone ??
Thanks,
Yuval

With Version 5 simply click the burn button and if it doesn't fit a pop up box will appear asking if you want to reduce the file size.
The required Hard Drive Space will be larger than the completed DVD.
This Drive Space must allow room for various temporary files created during the "Make DVD" process.
If perhaps you're using an AVI file or a non compliant MPEG file, plus if your changing the sound format to Dolby from some other format, don't be suprised if the required Hard Drive Space is as high as 15 GB!
The resultant DVD will however fit on the 4.3 disc provided you have all the other settings correct. In this extreme example the process would also take a couple of hours. This is why the forum recommendation is to prepare your video files beforehand and render them to DVD compliant MPEG2 format.
Then you will not need all that hard drive space during the DVD Menu creation phase and it will take minutes instead of hours.
OK this is MovieFactory and you don't have all the trimmings of VideoStudio but an understanding of the VideoStudio (also MediaStudio) workflow may help.
Step 1. Capture.
This is from Camcorder to computer in DV (AVI) file format.
Step 2. Edit.
Cuts, transitions, Titles, Special Effects.
Step 3. Create MPEG2 file (Render)
Step 4. Create DVD Menu
Step 3 above in MovieFactory would be "Export Selected clips" on the
"Add Media" Screen.

fit to disk with MF5
I am trying Moviefactory which seems to do everything I need easily except fit to disc. I tried a video of about 1hr 30m which compressed and burned perfectly. When I tried another 2hr 25m project the resultant ISO file was about 5.3GB and burn obviously failed. I only finally succeded by using DVD Shrink but this took another long process and shouldn't be necessary. Also quality will suffer with two renders.
I have tried changing the quality settings but this does not change the project size at all. The files I am working with are MPEG2 from VHS recordings captured.
Is this a problem with any setting or the program.
