Video Studio 9 attempts to connect to the Internet

I'm using Visual Studio 9. Every time I start the program, my firewall alerts me that VS is attempting to connect to the local internet as well as the internet.

I suspected that it was calling home to check for updates but I can't find any option in the Preferences window that relates to updates or to internet connection.

I'm a little fussy about security and programs that access the internet. Does anyone know why VS is trying to connect to the internet automatically and how I can stop it (inside VS rather than in my firewall).

General Tab.
Third item down is a check box that enables you to "Check Ulead Website every... days"
