DVD-VR Compliant question

Post by Calver »

Using VS9 and at the 'Create Video File' stage. I'm ticking 'DVD-VR Compliant' on the 'Compression Settings' tab, because I want to burn to DVD-RAM and test on the TV with my Panasonic DVD Recorder.

Can I use the resulting mpeg file to burn a standard DVD Video, using DVD-R, or will I have to do this step again with the option unticked?

Thank you,
John

Well, it appears that if I leave this unchecked it still adds the program to the DVD-RAM and plays on the Panasonic ok.

Hi all,
I have a question related to this. I've just purchased a new Panny DMR-ex75 , which is my first DVD recorder - what a fantastic piece of kit.
Anyhow, the work flow I have been using is to record a programme to HDD or dvd-ram and then transfer to the computer to do any editing I might want to do in VS10 plus and also create an MPEG audio file.
I then author in DVD WS 2 and include both a DD and MPEG audio file.
The DVD project completes successfully and I have burned about 5 different titles successfully but last night I authored a disc that wasn't recognised by tge DVD recorder!
A bit more investigation and I noticed that a couple of the other discs stutter in a couple of scences when played back on the recorder!
Further investigation and I find that the MpEG file I create in VS10 has the DVD-VR compliant check box ticked.

The question I have is - does it matter if a DVD-VR compliant file is used to create a DVD-video?

Other relevent info
use DVD-R discs
Have authored many discs in he past using material captured from a PCI PVR card
