Analog Capture Problem

Post by bigby »

I am using the recommended procedure for capturing in Video Studio 8. (Does this apply for analog capture?)
I have a Sony analog camcorder connected by S-Video connection and am capturing to AVI with the recommended settings. My problem is that when I capture, the picture's contrast seems to go up and down in regular intervals. Any help would be much appreciated or an explanation.

What is the S-Video connector (on your computer) attached to? Usually we capture analog video with some sort of external capture box which connects to the computer with either a firewire port or USB2 port.

Regular changes in contrast or color are most likely being caused by Macrovision -- are you trying to capture a commercial tape?

Jchunter_2 - I connect the S-Video connection to the "video in" of an ATI X800 Pro vivo graphics card. Would using an external capture box be better to use?

THoff - I am capturing my home video of a family holiday which I recorded on HI-8 tape.
