Shear lines on movement when importing from DVD

Hi there!

This is my first post, I've been using VS8 for a little while but previously for VCDs.

I just got the AC3 plugin and noticed that when I import a DVD clip I get alternate line shearing of moving images in my play/preview window. I've read on the forums that this has to to with choosing the correct upper/lower field setting on import - but only seen this referred to for MiniDV/Firewire imports - what should be the correct setting in preferences for DVD clip import? - Or is it to do with something else? I'm on PAL settings but it happens on NTSC and PAL DVDs.

Any help much appreciated!

Oh - and is there an easy way to get VS8 to capture a still/screenshot from the captured DVD video?

OK, it seems I should ignore the Auto-settings suggestion and use frame-based in project settings to get them working without shear. They are DVD recordings of analogue video tapes.

I've also found the instructions of capturing stills buried in the help file!
