You don't say which version of Video Studio you bought, and I am presuming it is the current version 9. However, previous versions work in much the same way when it comes to animation of titles. (And yes, they certainly exist! ) I think they also exist in the program manual!!

In the edit screen and in timeline view, you do your title in the Title track. Up towards the top left hand corner of the screen (but below the File/Edit/Clips/Tools drop-downs, you will see there are two tabs. The one you will be on is labelled Edit (this is not the Edit across the top of screen), and a somewhat greyed-out looking tab labelled Animation. Click on that. Make sure your title is also selected (i.e. that it has appeared on the preview screen). At the top left corner of that Animation tab, there is a box labled 'Apply Animation' -- check that. And below it, a drop down which gives you a choice of animations, including Fade. There will be a number of presets for each, but if you want to change individual settings within the general animation, then click on the TT on the right of the drop-down box. In the case of the Fade animation, for instance, you can choose Fade In or Out or Cross Fade, and also specify if the fade is to be long, short or intermediate...

I might add to Ken's wisdom, :)

You can also select for the duration of the cross-fade if "Text" is selected (not line, word or character), User defined. Then you can drag the "Pause Duration" handles (also known as the trim handles) to further control the duration of the fade. Dragging the left handle to the left shortens the duration of the fade-in, and dragging the right handle to the right shortens the fade-out.

and if I could just jump in as well - - you can also put the same text title into your timeline sequentially as many times as you like - and apply a different animation to each one - one of them could even be static long enough for your viewers to read it ! - so the choice of effects you can acheive with titles is almost infinite.
