I dont know how it worked for you, but I have already tried it more than five times, and everytime the same thing happens. Tha album and mask transitions aren't copied. The name Album and Mask are displayed, but there is nothing inside them. As for Burger Transitions, they were copied without any problem.
So, now tell me, how do I copy the rest of transitions. Moreover, you mentioned about Boris FX transitions. Are these free and if yes, can you please give the link for the same.
I can see 6 album transitions
I can see Mask transitions named
MaskA to MaskA6
MaskB to MaskB6
MaskC to MaskC6
MaskD to MaskD6
MaskE to MaskE6
MaskF to MaskF6
Sorry to resurrect this now rather oldish thread, but I just thought I would add my own tale of woe (which I referred to in another post yesterday). But I have just tried doing exactly as you did, Steve. I made sure VS 10 was closed. I renamed the Vfx folder in VS10+ 'Vfx_plugOLD'. Then I copied the Vfx_plug folder in VS9 and Pasted it into VS10+.
In VS9, my transitions show somewhat differently to what you list -- I have 15 Album transitions; 15 Flashback transitions; and 3 categories of Mask transitions -- A, B and C -- which contain 21, 9 and 18 transitions respectively. I don't have categories D, E or F.
After pasting the VS9 folder into VS10+, I still don't have an Album category (and it doesn't appear as a transition or set of transitions in any of the other categories). My Flashback category still only contains 1 transition. And I still only have 1 Mask category, though curiously it now contains, in this order, Mask B, Mask A and Mask C, where before it contained Mask B and Mask F!!! So something is definitely rotten in the state of Denmark!
The way you post was right at vs6 to vs7 and vs8. Then after the copy when you start the new version it does like a compilation and broght all the new entries into the program. In vs9 it stop to work that way and all the files copied from vs8 does not exist in the list. In vs10+ after the copy of the files they do exist in the list but they are not functin as expected. I copied the vs9 album to the vs10+ (pre release no album exist before)
and after the start of the program I can see the album in the list with just 1 entry that does not function as expected. I found a post in the forum about coping from vs9 to vs10 and the guy told me to copy the .dat files from c:\documents and setting\your uid\video studio\9.0 to the 10. I did it to with the relevat files (before copy I renamed each file that already exist). After that the albums are in the list as it was in vs9 ! But all of then not founction as expected !!! Actualy they all did the same (Like a defualt wipe) defently not what I would expect. I still wait for my box and will try it again after I will got it.

In videoStudio 9 there is an extra step that does not appear necessary with VS10.
This is outlined on page 28 of my Tutorial about how to create a DVD menu from scratch using PhotoImpact http://www.steve-jones.pwp.blueyonder.c ... torial.pdf
Open the following file with Windows Notepad:
C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio 9.0\Template\ Template.ini
And create new entries for any custom folders you may wish to include;
Here you can see on the left an original Template.ini
On the right is my modified Template.ini containing a number of extra categories.
Thanks sjj1805 for your answer about the template. I was not awaer of this point. But yet I mainly need the transitions like the Album. As I understand from your previus posts you just copieed the vfx files. As I wrote I did it but can't get them to work. Any work around ?
At first I though that I only person have the 'lack of transition choices' on VS10... Then I am sorry I made a new thread without check on this..
It's very strange if VS10Plus (Yess with PLUS) but didnt have at least the same amount of the ransition in VS9...
The only can I think is need more transition, use VS9... Need more advance feature (like more Overlay track..Hmm, I like it so much) use VS10.... But I think it will be stupid enough
So I hope we can resolve this issue soon, whether we statisfied only with VS10 transition or we can upgrade (add it by ourself)
Check out the Adorage effects packages. Expensive, but can be purchased in single volumes. They work seamlessly with Videostudio. There are more than 8000 in all the volumes! I'm an effect person, meaning I love variety. (although I never use too many in one project resulting in overkill) I've noticed that a lot of users are creating projects using stills and videos, and while crossfading and fade to black are number one. After years of creating projects, the same old effects get boring! For those of us who create 'special occasion' projects, we need variety to capture the mood of the occasion. A variety of effects allow us to make each project very unique. The ability to add ability flash overlays also greatly enhance the output and I use it in conjunction with the effects. My finished projects always get great response and requests for more. It would be great if Ulead and Pinnacle could work out a deal so that Hollywood fx could be used with Ulead products as a plug in! One other tip, there is a plug in that's older so you you may have to Google to find it. It's from Canopus and called Album. This plug in can be incorporated into VideoStudio and allows users to create Album effects that can be customized with Text, etc. It makes a great introduction and ending for projects that feature a memorable occasion such as a wedding.

Hi Sherry - I finally got a chance to look into these adorage effects and thought I would give it a try. I downloaded the demo and had problems opening it and just decided to buy the whole package since it was so reasonably priced and the effects looked great. When I downloaded the complete version I came up with the same problem that I had with the demo version. I downloaded to my desktop and when I went to open it I got an error message saying that the executable was not a valid win32 application. Did you come across that at all? Any advice? I downloaded this to my laptop which is not my main editing computer just to play around with it first. I am running XP home - service pack 2 on a new HP laptop - ( pent M 1.73ghz) - I'm not sure what to do to get this to run.
Hi Ilene -- remember me from CanopusFX days? (I am still using them in VS10+ and am grateful for your original recommendation and help in getting them to work...)
But as ever, I am intrigued by new packages, and have in the past looked at Adorage. But to my mind, it was out of my price range (US$600+). So I was interested to see your reference to the package you bought being so cheap. Which one was that, and where do I find it -- on the ProDad (Adorage) site? Or somewhere else?
Apart from that, it sounds as though your download may have resulted in a corrupt .exe installation file. I guess you didn't go for the option which provides the package on a CD...
I think what I did wrong with the adorage download was that I downloaded the rendering engine - that allows their effects package to work with other 3rd party software providers such as ulead, pinnacle, adobe premiere etc. I don't know why the demo didn't launch - as I had downloaded that first. Meanwhile both downloads had the same error problem. the icon on my desktop resembled a winzip file but was slightly different and therefore I got the incompatible win32 application error. I emailed adorage to try to figure out why. meanwhile - i lost power at my home do to hurricane ernesto ( i'm in a suburg of NYC) so I haven't been able to follow up.
I think the rendering engine that I purchased was $35 plus $21 for the cd.
The complete adorage package is expensive but you can purchase individual effects modules. The ones I like ( I don't like them all) are around $60 each - and they come with hundreds of effects. So it doesn't have to be expensive if you purchase it that way.
The rendering engine is a must - but it's a one time fee I believe.
I'll keep u posted as I learn more.
Meanwhile Element 5 will give me a refund if I don't succeed in getting this to work.
I'm still enjoying the canopus effects - that was a great addition!
