I have just started using Video Studio - previous video editing experience over 10 years ago - tape to tape. This is really impressive !!!
I have a question that I would have expected to be able to figure but I just can't.
I want to see in the library just the clips that are relevant to the current project. Currently I have all the default clips and all the ones I have used since I started. I went into Library Manager and created a custom library, but I can't see how to use that library.
If someone can help me on this I would be most obliged - and please don't hesitate to tell me where the info is - I am sure it is somewhere but I just cannot see it!!!!
Best regards
Richard
How do I use the library?

You can move those thumbnails about in your libraries just as if they were files on your PC - first thing to note is that they are not your actual files - merely icons pointing to your video files - so if you do accidently delete one it is not a problem - just use the little opening folder to the right of the library name at the top of the library panel to import the clip again.
If you no longer want clips in the library just delete them - you can put them back at any time in any library - you can use the normal windows Ctrl+Select and Shift+Select to select multiple thumbnails.
If you just want to move them to your new custom library then you could delete from the old and import in the new but I usually right click and 'Cut' from the old library and right click and 'Paste' into the new one.
Once the thumbnails are in your library you just drag and drop them into your timeline.

Ha Ha - now I see !! What I hadn't noticed was the pull down option created for my custom library next to "Video" in the list box.
I bet I'm the only person in the history of the world to be confused by this!!
Thank's very much - and brilliant quick answer. I bet I will have further questions along the line.

Hi,
Having a sense of HUMOR is Good!
IF you want to also DELETE the video from the harddisk at the sametime you
hightlight the thumbnail in the Library then:
HOLD DOWN the LEFT SHIFT KEY and hit the DELETE key.
VideoStudio will prompt you if you want to also delete the file from the harddisk.
I THINK the file goes into the Trash_Bin but you better check that.
In the SHARE TAB some features are available unless you have a Thumbnail
in the Library selected. VideoStudio will prompt you.
The library has valuable features.
On another subject because you are new to Video_Studio 9:
Remember when burning a DVD go into the "Burning Module" Share -> Create Video Disk
with an EMPTY Timeline and import your "DVD Compliant videos" into this module. That is the preferred method when using VS 6/7/8/9.
So export your project out to a dvd compliant file on the harddisk and
then start a new project, go into the burning module and import the dvd compliant file you created in the previous step.
Hope this helps,
MD

... and don't forget to check the box beside 'Do not convert compliant mpeg files' which is in the little cogwheel icon in the bottom left of the burning module screen. That will save you a lengthy re-render of what should already be DVD compliant files, and also avoid a deterioration in quality inherent in such a re-render.
