Burning Xvids to DVD

Hello,
Im trying to burn 2 Xvid files to a dvd but the problem is that it wont fit on a DVD.. but is there a way to reduce the quality so that it can fit on regulare DVD... i know its possible because Nero does it...

MovieFactory 3.5 will convert xvids to DVD format, but will only fit about 1 hour to 1 hour 10 on a DVD.
The process also takes about 17 or 18 hours!
