Post by L8 »

I have had PI 11 for a good few months and never had a problem with it. Over the weekend when I was enhancing some photographs I'd taken and when I went to click the save button nothing happens???

I'm totally stuffed with out this and I can't process my series until this matter is cleared up!!!

Please help!!!!!

How, we know nothing other than that you have PI 11 and all of a sudden can't save.

What has changed on your system since you could save last, Windows update? other programs installed?

There were some people reporting this problem with PI 11 a few months ago but since yours worked initially... :?:

I think the problem was a windows update but I'm not completely sure.
I did a system restore to a point before the update and every thing is fine.

Thanks for your responce.

I had similar problem with Blur options not working.

The solution was wiping all settings for PI from Documents and Settings/user and replacing them with default settings I have luckily backed up.
I did not install anything (Windows upgrades included) at this time, so I guess PI damaged its configurations files.

By using system restore you probably reverted these files to useable state.

How does a windows update affect PI?

Possibly by changing how jpeg images are processed within the Windows shell. Jpeg images have been used to infect peoples computers with all sorts of nasties.

I have had a lot of issues with all sorts of programs, not only Ulead, after a security update from MS.

Um, that's interesting, Heinz.
I'll have to dig deep into that and do some research cause as a tech
myself, thats a new one to me Ive never encountered, yet..LOL

I know it took a while for ms to catch on to the scam of folks using the image formats to pass along virus, etc. But the only image update that I can think of deals with jpg2000 images & the gdi tool outside of individual graphical software updates.

But like I said, I will do some research cause the tech environment
changes so rapidly, it's impossible to keep up....LOL

Thanks Heinz.

Last times there were 2 prominent Windows bugs regarding graphics files:
GDI+ bug
http://cve.mitre.org/cgi-bin/cvename.cg ... -2004-0200
WMF bug
http://cve.mitre.org/cgi-bin/cvename.cg ... -2006-0106

I don't think patching any influenced image processing of applications (except getting rid of vulnerability of course).

I'd bet also this time problems are on Ulead's side, be it internal error or inability to properly operate in some specific OS environments.
