A 'Preferences" setting question for Ulead 8

In the preferences section of Ulead 8, the last tab has a question that reads:

"Limit Hard Disk Usage To:"

There is a box next to it that can be checked or unchecked. Mine has always been unchecked. Should I check it?

Then following this question it says:

1 MB (Max Space 44,835MB)

Do have this set properly?

I leave this pref unchecked. It doesn't matter what it says below if you have it unchecked.

Yep - mine is permanently unchecked also

It puzzles me a bit why that is even there. The only reason I can think of: eventually you may want to burn a DVD; for a 4.7 Gb disc you will need around 9.5 Gb working room on the hard drive. If you fill all the space with clips you may be unable to burn - you do have the option to remind the computer to leave some spare space.
I, also, never use the thing.

IMHO that space should be reserved as a UVS "partition" to optimize the writing speed, but this function doesn't work... at least in the initial release of UVS8.
