Hi,
In my old analogue camera days I got used to recording so that the date and time were visible for a few seconds at the start of a video.
Now I use a JVC mini-DV camera and of course it records a time code with the video.
If I play back the mini-DV tape in the video camera I can switch a display of the time code on to get the same effect.
Is there anyway Video Studio can display the time code for a clip so that when a project is rendered the date and time are visible on-screen in the same way as they would be with my old analogue tapes?
Or is this not necessary?
I am capturing files that I will archive back to mini-Dv once edited but I am also burning the resulting AVI file to DVD.
Is the time code maintained when rendering an AVI and if so, can it be displayed when playing the archive mini-DV and DVD?
Thanks,
Dave

Hi Dave
VS 9 has the means to display the time stamp of your Avi clips.
File / Preferences / Display time code on Preview Window.
This is only for display purposes and is not rendered to the video frame.
To be viewed in clip mode only.
A new time code is made when using Video Studio to export your Avi back to your camera.

There are programs that may achieve what you need , Search this forum and the web for Dv Time Stamp.

That is more or less what I have been doing.BrianCee wrote:If you hover the mouse cursor over a thumbnail in the library a box will appear giving the date of original filming (DV captured video only) - use that information to make a small 'title' box which you can make any size and position where ever you want it on screen
I swittched on the display as per Trevors advice and made a title up from the date that was displayed.
I don't think I need the program Trevor mentioned as I don't want the date displayed on every frame. Typically just for a few seconds when the date changes on a tape of a holiday video.
Thanks for the reply.

This is useful and this along with adding a title with the date on is good enough. Thanks.trevor andrew wrote:Hi Dave
