MF4 is not importing Philips DVD_VR which MF3 does

Post by lindis »

I upgraded from MF3 to MF4 but lost the possibility to import DVD's generated from my DVD-recorder. The same disc works with MF3 even if the clip sequence presented by MF3 is wrong.
The error message is ID: 0x800408ff(2303)
I tried the patch from the Sticky message but there was no difference.

Going back from the burning section to the add files section has also resulted in several crashes so I really regret the upgrade.

The reason I upgraded was that the import in the MF4 trial version looked better and the new 16:9 option. Now I will go back to the old routine and do importing and editing MPEG2 in Womble, authoring in MF3(or MF4) and fix the 16:9 flag with Editinfo.

Hi,
>>>The reason I upgraded was that the import in the MF4 trial version looked better and the new 16:9 option

It seems like everyone that has installed MF4 trial version previously and then the full version is having serious problems with the full version of MF4.

I installed MF4 on my backup PC with the same error message and I am almost sure I did not install the trial version on that one. The only Ulead product there is MovieFactory 1.0.
I did not install the "sticky patch" in my backup PC because I got a feeling the uninstall/install procedure introduced more problems in the system and it also referred to another error code.

please contact email technical support. I think they have an answer to this one.

I have contacted Ulead support and, unlike in the past, they came back with a recommendation the day after. Unfortunately it did not solve the problem.
Their answer:

-------------------------------------------------
Kindly remove MovieFactory 4 in the Add/remove programs. After removing the program, go to this location and delete all folders:

"C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead DVD MovieFactory 4.0"

"C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Ulead Systems\Ulead DVD MovieFactory\4.0"

"C:\Documents and Settings\[YOUR USERNAME]\Application Data\Ulead Systems\Ulead DVD MovieFactory\4.0"

"C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ulead Systems\DVD"

Once deleted, restart the computer and reinstall the product.

After installing DVD MF4, download and install the 4.04 update found here:

My problem to import DVD_VR is solved!!

Post by lindis »

Right after my last posting I got a new version of the LXDVDParser.dll from the support department and my problem to import PHILIPS DVD_VR now seems to be solved.

I can now open the disc and the first test gave me the whole title in one contiguous mpeg file not divided into segments/chapters as it was in MF3. So there is no need to join the mpeg’s at least in this situation. The file is also accepted as a compliant dvd file that means no re-encoding.

Many thanks to Carlo at Ulead for the quick response!

This really is an odd bit of software!

My VR import stopped working after putting the latest update on! Prior to that MF4 would open a DVD +vr, after the update it failed.

Luckily my pc was ghosted so I could restore to a point before the upgrade..
