Multiple Problems. Can't find fix. *Solved*

I am 100% sure I have the full version of VS9. I had the trial, and paid the $100 for what I am pretty sure is the full version. And it says Ulead Videostudio 9 when I start it up.

Problem #1.

I used DVD Decrypter so I had my own personal backup of a DVD that I own legally. For all but two dvd’s total it has worked smoothly. But now I get a message saying this.

“Failed to open DVD.
Report ID: 0x800408ff(2303)”

Now I read someone else having this same problem as well. They were told to make sure they had all the download patches.

I went here. I presume that is where I am supposed to get the patches.

After I downloaded them; I clicked to have them install. But then I got this message.

“Setup cannot find Ulead Videostudio 9.0 installed on your system.”

I then went to the “About Ulead” section on my program. It says this.

“Ulead VideoStudio 9.00.100”

I am pretty sure that is the full version.

And then I wanted to take a WMV video I had and simply take a clip from that. However when I tried loading it, I got this message.

“Ulead VideoStudio has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.”

So is there by any chance someone that knows what is wrong and might be able to help me fix the problem?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Powerbomb1411, welcome to the forums..:)

Problem #1, could be just a problem with the DVD. Do you get the same error now all the time, or just on that one DVD?

You did go to the correct website to download the patches/fixes/updates for VS.

The error you got is common for those that "unlock trial versions" instead of downloading the full version (or buying the boxed version which is the best option). The patches think that you are still using a TBYB version, which they are not for. What you need to do is contact Ulead and request a download link.

Ulead VS 9.00.1.00 is the correct version. When you start up VS 9 is your splash screen red or blue? The blue screen is the only way that we have been able to discern between versions. The trailing numbers don't change.

VS9 has problems trying to import and edit wmv files. They are highly compressed, and meant for distribution. You can import and edit wmv files, however as you are seeing, problems will appear.

Well the DVD issue has only happened for two so far, but once I had them shrinked, then the shrinked version worked.

The splash screen is blue.

Thanks again for the help, it's greatly appreciated and my eyes are now glued here for the fix's, I hate unresolved issues like these.

Did you completely uninstall the trial version (as you should) before installing the full version? Not doing that can also cause a lot of problems.

It is also not clear to me when you are getting the first error message: when you try to open the DVD in Decrypter, or in VS9? If it is the latter, then can you tell us exactly how you are going about 'opening' the DVD in VS9 -- are you using the 'Insert DVD/DVD-VR' command, for instance?

I don't think I did uninstall the trial version unless it did it automatically, i will try that right now. and i am using the VS9 when I upload the dvd info by clicking 'Insert DVD/DVD-VR', (but i can't do that until it's decrypted).

Hi

I think that Ulead recommend uninstalling the trial version before installing the full version.

You may need to do a clean install. This removes all installed VS files. After which the new installation should be ok.

Read :- http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic. ... =uninstall

Well I just e-mailed them, I accidentally managed ot delete the program to install it. But I do have the recipts from Ulead and Paypal, so hopefully I can get that program easy enough and then everything will work afterward and if it doesn't I'll be back. Thanks for the help.

Edit: That last link solved as much as I can solve. They also reccomeneded it when I got the link to reinstall the program.
