Hello,
I'am using a Sony IP220 MicroMV connected with firewire to a P4 3GHZ PC with 200GB 7200 RPM Harddrive and 1GB internal mem. Videocard is a ATI Radeon 9800.
First question is anyone using a MicroMV to capture from?
Second question : I have problems with my capture that my audio is out of sync. It's 8-10 sec. later then the video.
I tried to find out if I could disable the playback preview while I am capturing but it is not possible or I couldn't find it.
Is there anybody who can help me because I want to quit with this software.
Greetz.

Re the preview question, di you look in File > Preferences > Instant Playback Target, where you can select between 'Preview Window', your camcorder's screen, a mixture of the two, or some other dual head device...? But as far as I am aware, you cannot turn it off altogether (and I can't imagine why you would want to...!)

My MicroMV capture is also out of sync
Hi all,
Doepas - you have my sympathy but I also have the same problem.
I'm using the MicroMV plug in and have used all the recommended settings. No other applications were running except VideoStudio8 at the time of capture.
This was only my first attempt at capturing footage based on content from a standard MicroMV tape. I captured the entire tape using a Firewire connection but when I played back the footage I found the audio is a few seconds out of sync with the video. This occurs after 5 mins into the recorded file (I captured it as an MPEG2)
Could any one offer any advice ?
I've read various 'sync' threads about :
- toggling DV type from I to II ?
- changing camcorder settings from 12bit to 16 bit ?
however I've not been able to find these options in the drop down menus and I'm clueless about what these things mean!
Is it me, or are the options more restricted when capturing MicroMV ?
Could it be that frames have been dropped, and the capture mechanism does not sync the audio stream to the video stream ?
Any advice from anyone in posession of a MicroMV camera would be appreciated!

I DON'T have a MicroMV camera, so cannot comment definitively, but it is indeed possible that there may be no option to change between Type I and II when using that plug-in.
But I CAN comment definitively on the 12 bit/16 bit audio question. That is not changed within Video Studio. It is a function of the video camera and must be changed within the camera itself. Look at your camera's manual, and you will probably find the exact Menu item on your camera which will allow you to change it.
I have also not heard of anyone having video/audio sync problems because of using 12 bit instead of 16 bit audio. It is more likely to be as you suggest -- that frames are dropped and the audio continues to record and thus gets ahead...
If you are using VS 8, you can in fact get a dropped frame counter to appear:
Go to C:\Documents & Settings
All Users
Application Data
Ulead Systems
Video Studio 8
Open UVS.INI and scroll down to [Information] and change the Show Drop Frame Counter from =0 to =1
Save the changes.
The counter will appear in the Information panel when you enter capture mode and your camera is connected and recognized.

I also tried to get the solution from Ulead but all there suggestions I have done but without results.
Now I know that I am not the only one who has this problem.
I also noticed that a lot of functions are disabled when you are using a MicroMV cam.
I still have the problem and I am considering to buy the other program which supports MicroMV.
