Video problem on playing and exporting !!! HELP !!!

Post by trankilloliv »

Hello, I own VS7, and download VS9 Trial as I though the problem will disappear, but that has not effect!!

I use Insert video from C:\ to the video line (I try .mov, .avi, or . mpeg but there is the same problem)
I can play the video alone without problem, even with VS7 or VS9 (when i play it alone, it's OK)

When I "Customise" my video (insert text, or audio); and when I play it or export it, the video play very slowy ( 2 images every 30 second)

When I save my project, nor play it, the problem is the same, the video play very slowy. But not the sound ! (strange no ?)

The video play very awful bad !

Do you think this is a lack of memory ? I own only 256
Do you think having 512 will enable this soft to work ??
nor this problem come from another thing ???

On my old computer (I change the processor & system from 98 to XP)
I didn't have this problem, but can not come back.

Thank you for answering, I need this soft to promote my surf & bike sessions to my friend

The simple videos are good, but I liked the enhancement enabled by VS

OliV

Ps: I didn't find that problem in the forum, so I ask you

Hi Trankilloliv, welcome to the forums..:)

There could be several reasons why your video plays slowly, and the quality is bad.
If you are previewing in VS, then yes the quality will be bad and it will be jumpy, jerky, stuttering, because it is putting together all your changes on the fly, (unless you have set in Preferences, High Quality Playback). It could also be due to the format that you are trying to edit, and your workflow.

Now with that being said, yes certainly adding more memory would help. On Ulead's website they state that 512 Mb RAM is recommended. I think that partly due to XP, to run editing apps as smooth as possible it doesn't hurt to have 1gig of RAM. Going much above that can be overkill though. But the major concern is your processor. That's what gets worked. What is your system specs? You can complete that information in your profile.

Your video card plays an important role in how smooth graphics are displayed. If it is a rather old video card, it probably isn't taking much of the strain off the processor.

So now to continue you should:

export problem : RESOLVED --> Explanation

Post by trankilloliv »

My problems comes with imported files.

I got a Kodak camera which record video on *.mov : I cannot open them directly, because when I use this files, the programm crash immediately.
I use files/import video to time line/*.mov At the moment I choose my file, VS7 crash.

So I use SUPER.exe to convert my files, i can choose every format I need

And the problem is different: as explained in my first message:
I can play the clip normaly in VS
but when I try to play the project or export it, the video play only 2 images/30 second of film

I tried with *.wma; .avi, .mpeg

I found the problem: THIS A CODEC PROBLEM

I tried with other codecs to convert my files and the video play OK,
even the project and export to file. I change the video converter CODECS and VS play OK my video
(E.G.: there is different codecs to convert a video into the same format, and the crash of VS in opening .mov come from kodak codec, which is not good for VS)

Thanks for your answer, that help me to understand.
