Audio Problems....please help!

Post by andulong »

Hi All,

I am new to this forum and this program. Everything was going great until I burned my first VCD. The audio and video are out of sync by as much as 8-10 seconds. When I play the clips on the story board or even on the preview screen all is fine. Any suggestions? I have many hours invested in this project and hope to save it!

Thanks

What version of VS are you using?

How did you create your input and in what format? AVI, MPEG?

Is the audi in sync in your input files?

Did you follow the procedures in "New Users Read This First"?

This may be the "known" problem in the audio/video mutilpexing stage of "Create DVD". While I don't know for sure it applies the VS7, it may be caused by one of the Patches the apply to VS7 and VS8.

It is also important to not do any file conversions so make sure your Project parameters match exactly to the MPEG's you captured. Even with the work-around below, VS can't convert formats without messing up the audio sync...

Here's my post on the subject from the old board:

Well, I finally found a work-around that allowed me to create a usable DVD with UVS8! It's from an older post in this forum (text follows).

The audio sync problem obviously lies in one of the files that UVS8 or one of its updates made to folder:

"C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ulead Systems\DVD

When I followed the instructions shown below I was finally able to create VOB files with the audio correctly sync'd (note, do not delete the .exe file in this folder). I rebooted after making the change to be safe since the ULCDRSvr.exec file is a system task that starts automatically.

I haven't tried a render since making the change so I hope that still works? I'm using Nero to actually burn the VOB's to DVD so I don't know how burning is affected by this change either?

When can we expect a proper fix Ulead?

That is for VS8 (i think) is there anything I can do to fix the problem on VS7, also the website doesn't work, it says that the page is no longer available

It's not clear where the problem originates. It may be only in V8 but could be in one of the patches that applies to both V7 and V8 (like the DVD burning patches).

If you want to give it a try, I can email you the zip file. Make a copy of your existing DVD folder 1st (Copy then Paste to create folder "Copy of DVD") then delete all but the .exe file in the original DVD folder and Unzip the file I send you into it.

Reboot after this and give it a shot. If it doesn't help, just rename the DVD folders again, reboot, and you're back where you started.

Send me an email through the board with your email address if you're interested.

I am experiencing the same problem with VS7. All is fine until I burn it to a DVD. This was never the case and I am thinking it has been since I applied the updates.

I'm still not sure if this applies to V7 but if you want to give it a try, here's the zip file I got from the (now broken) link above.

http://home.powergate.ca/~lwarner/dvd.zip

Don't forget to make a copy of your existing DVD folder (Copy then Paste to create "Copy of DVD" folder. Then delete all files in your current DVD folder except ULCDRSvr.exe and then unzip this file into it. Reboot before trying it since ULCDRSvr.exe is a System task.

If it doesn't work, just rename the DVD folders to get back to where you started.

Rather than waste DVD's, I recommend you output the DVD files (VIDEO_TS folder) to your hard drive and check the results by playing it with WMP before burning it to a DVD. To do this, uncheck "Record to Disc" and Check "Create DVD Folders".

I use Nero to actually burn this VIDEO_TS folder to DVD once I'm happy with what was actually created.

Good luck!

Thank you. It works. There seems to be something wrong with the update to the DVD Burning.

VS7 update versus total re-install

Post by Buddy Stansbury »

I've been having the same problem for the last couple of days. I've been working more than a year with VS7 without problems, then last week I uninstalled Norton SystemWorks and delected the recycle folders. Soon after that I tried another video Create and there was no audio in the output DVD vobs. I always check each DVD with PowerDVD program to make sure it works. The video plays fine but no audio.

My question is why won't a total re-install work. I installed VS7 again and then the VS7 patch, but the result is the same. I suspect that some other DLL installed in windows is broken. It doesn't make sense that this DVD zip file from VS8 will fix VS7 but the last post to this thread says it does work. It can't hurt for me to try it since I can always just re-install the orginal. With all the people having this problem, you would think that Ulead would figure out the problem and give us a fix.

Hope this works.

VS7 Audio problem

Post by Buddy Stansbury »

I just checked in my >>programs>common>Ulead systems>DVD,.. and there is no such file as ULCDRSvr.exe. In fact there are no .exe files in that folder at all. I searched my entire system and there is no such file. I expect that it is only for VS8 and not VS7. This makes me wonder how at least one person reported it worked for them.

Anyone else have a suggestion.???

I didn't have the file either. I ignored it and overwrote everything else. Works like a charm.

VS7 Test

Post by Buddy Stansbury »

GuyL,.. Ok,,. I'm going to try it. However, it will take a good deal of time since the create step is for a movie I have that is two hours long. I think I will split of a few minutes and try it by itself.

Thanks.

VS7 Audio problem

Post by Buddy Stansbury »

Thanks to all of the ideas on this post. I can't believe it but it works. Well, not exactly as specified. GuyL gave me the final way to fix my system. What he did was to leave everything in the DVD folder that was there and overwrite the contents of the ZIP file to the DVD folder. There is no .EXE file in that folder for VS7.

Now I have only done a 24 second clip that starts off my 2 hour movie but it worked the first time. The real question we should all think about now is, what went wrong??? Something changed. My system was fine and then something happened. In fact I have produced 9 movies over the last week and all were fine. The only thing I did to my system was to uninstall Norton Systemworks and I did this because it was creating a RECYCLER folder which kept track of files I deleted. As I built these movies and burnt the disks, and deleted the files, the RECYCLER kept on growing until it occupied 10 GB of the drive. To delete it I had to uninstall Norton REcycle Bin and get that back to standard Windows XP.
You may not believe this but even after I have uninstalled it, the function is still there, and each time I delete a file some hidden program in the boot sector of my C drive re-creates the RECYCLER folder and a file called NTProtect. I've searched everywhere on the Symantec web site trying to find a way to get rid of this but still no luck. Of course there is no way to get any technical support out of Symantec since they won't even take e-mails.

The reason I say we need to find out what caused this is because if we don't understand it, it will happen again.

Any suggestions????
