My camcorder (panasonic nv-gs 400) is set to record in 16.9 mode.
When I capture with msp8 I have to change to 4.3, otherwise for some reason or other the final dvd displays the black bars above and below the videowith a horizontally stretched picture. My main problem is that although I can change the capture ratio to 4.3 on the mpeg capture device, if I use dv/avi (which I prefer), the capture device recognises the 16.9 ratio from the camcorder and changes the capture aspect ratio back to 16.9
Can anyone explain what is happening that will enable me to use dv/avi
I have tried getting an answer from the support team, but no one has come up with a solution.

sounds like a dvd creation issue
Hey Oldpete,
Make sure you are creating a 16x9 format dvd. If you slip up and edit in 4x3 or create the dvd file in 4x3 it will really mess with your mind. Capture in 16x9....edit in 16x9 and use the option for mpeg ntsc 16x9 dvd.
Hope this helps

Non-linear editing is half art/half brain damage

I have tried using a 16.9 template but it still comes out wrong. Also does the same in vs9 so think it might be a problem with camcorder.
The real problem is trying to use the dv capture plugin. It won't capture in anything other than 16.9 so I don't have the option of using 4.3, unlike with the mpeg plugin which I can change to 4.3 after the camcorder has been recognised by msp8
