This may be the answer for your audio problem!!!

Post by dutchgirl »

I finally found the answer for my audio problem. Maybe it works for someone else too!

I made a video of my parents 25th wedding anniversary. Playing it back on the camera, it looked and sounded great. Plugging in on the tv and again no problems. I decided to make the video even better with video studio 7. I captured the file in the format DV - type 1. The video itself was great, but the sound was unbearable, specially when someone stood close to the microphone or many people where talking all together. On these points the sound was just too intense. (I have no other words to describe it)

I could not find a way to adjust the audio and I really tried a bunch of things. I spent hours on the Internet, reading loads of tips and trying them, but without result. People told me to give up because it would never get better. But now I have finally found the answer to my prayers. I just captured the video twice. Once in the format DV - type 1, for the video and once in the format WMV for the audio. Combining these two gives a great great great result. I don't know why (because I am just a novice) but I am very please with the result and happy that I can finally present my parent a decent video!!!

Greetings from Holland :D

During the capture phase, check the Windows Volume control settings for "Recording" you probably have the slider turned up too high.

volume level after rendeering

Post by Ilene »

I hope this is the correct thread to post this question under. I've noticed lately after burning my DVD's, that when I play them back on the TV/DVD player that the volume is level throughout, but is much higher then the TV volume and therefore, when I play my DVD's I need to lower the volume on the TV. It's not a huge problem, but it seems weird that I need to adjust the volume lower, to listen comfortably.
Is the level that I'm recording my DVD's too high? Is there an adjustment for this? Is it a Window's adjustment, or is it the level at which I'm listening to my Video Projects play back at? Where does Ulead take it's volume control setting from. Perhaps I can lower it when I go to burn, so that it doesn't need to be adjusted when I insert it into the DVD player.

My audio tracks come both from video clips, and audio cd files/wav files that I import from cd's

If anyone has any insight on this, I'd appreciate the tip.

thanks....Ilene

DV is a digital transfer, there audio volume doesn't get adjusted in any way during "capture".

Another option would have been to adjust the audio level in the timeline. I think there's also an Auto Level audio filter.

volume control

Post by Ilene »

Thanks...but that doesn't seem to be the issue. I am well aware of how to adjust the audio on the time line and it's perfect before rendering. I actually think it might just be one TV that I have this issue with. I was just wondering if the volume I hear during project playback is some mid range volume that is recorded when burning or how those levels are inter-related if at all.

thanks...Ilene
