This is quite an odd problem I'm hoping someone has also had. it's difficult to show in screenshots because I can't seem to take a screenshot of the Preview Window.
What happens, is that I am currently creating titles using Photoshop, because their in Japanese (and, as you know, MediaStudioPro is not capable of creating titles in any other language).
I've done this quite often and it always works, except now.
I create white text on a black background, save as .tga and drag it into MediaStudioPro. From there I set the Overlay Options by selecting the black background with the eye-dropper. It then usually looks fine.
Now I have this situation where my text is left with ugly black residue (gunk) around the edges. Some sort of screw-up with the task of eliminating the black background is happening.
The hard thing about this is, it doesn't show up in the preview of the Overlay Options Dialog. The dialog indicates everything is perfect, the white text looks clean and beautiful and I'm ready to go .
However when I preview the result of the render, there is are very ugly black marks around my white text.
How can this be? The dialog tells me one thing, I preview using the play button in the dialog, and it looks perfect, but then it renders something else (wrong)?
Any ideas about what it might be doing. I've tried deleting and redoing it to no avail. It's only this one title that does it, the others have worked OK.
Overlay is leaving black gunk around my text
I'm speculating here but maybe you have aliasing on in creating your text. This could leave dark grey pixels round the text.
Workaround 1: keep aliasing off. If this leaves jaggies, use a larger no. of pixels in your canvas
Workaround 2: use a matte based on the white part of your text
Workaround 3: have a dark grey border round your characters
Workaround 4: use any combination of the above 3
