Problems with Ulead Movie Factory 3 SE

Hi guys,
I am new to digital video processing so any help appreciated. I fitted a DVD burner and got the Ulead software with it. I also purhased a Philips vid capture card - which is terrific. I have captured all my home VHSc video tapes to hard disk. Now the problem there is no way I can get the clips onto DVD , Vcd or SVCD. I have encountered the timeshift problem with the sound running seconds behind the Video. I saw a few tips to resolve it on this board but I would really like to know why there should have to be an interim step ??..

My main problem is if I take more than one mpeg2 clip and try to create any of the 3 formats my Windows XP SP2 pc [2.4ghz] hangs immeditaely it starts to convert clip 2 of 2 or 2 of however many. I got Ulead bundled with the burner DMF 3 SE and downloaded the update but the installer says it cannot find DMF on my machine [ there are 2 updates one 24mb one 4 mb] neither will install....
any pointers or suggestions greatly appreciated...

trev, i have a hauppage card with mf3 se bundled with it, fyi..i too am backing up vhs collection..but with no problems..i didn't muck with advanced settings..just using direct to dvd option and it's working great.

have you tried direct to dvd function?
