I had the trial version of VS9 and it worked perfectly.
After installing the full version, it seemed to work fine also. But when I finally finished editing and tried to create a .wmv file of my work, the program crashed. I am unable to see the submenu that pops under the "Create Video File" button that allows me to choose a format. VS9 just closes. When I tried to find other ways around it to export, such as the last button about publishing it on a website (neptune.com) the program closed on me again.
I searched the boards but failed to find anything that helps. There was another person who had this same problem, it seems, on December 20 but his post went unanswered.
I also did a clean uninstall-reinstall by following the guide that told me to deleteall the misc. folders in C:\Windows\temp and C:\Documents and Settings\User\etc, to delete a folder in the registry, etc.
Has anyone else had this problem? Or does anyone have a solution?
Edit: I used the Event Manager and found that ntdll.dll was a faulty module, if that helps. I'm not quite sure what that is telling me to do with it.

Hi rybio,
welcome to the forum - and I'm sorry to hear you're having problems.
One technique which has been used successfully by previous posters is to create a new user account in Windows, and then load VS9 into that. Sometimes it's hard to ensure that you have fully uninstalled the program, so it's a way of circumventing that.
Other than that, look in the event viewer logs which may give clues as to what is causing the crash.
Good luck!

I'm not sure but you might want to download: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... layLang=en
It contains the codecs for WMV files.

Similar Problem
I just saw your post when I searched for it today. If you look at the more recent posts, you'll see I had a very similar problem. I too was able to successfully make 3 projects with the Trial Software. I then paid the $99 for the retail version and encountered the problem in the "create video file" stage.
I never really permanently solved my problem but found a workaround. It may not work for you though, since you can't create ANY type of file. I wasn't able to make a DVD NTSC (mpeg2) file from my edited .AVI footage but I could make 4 large .AVI files out of the approx. 75 smaller .AVI files/scenes that made up my project. It rendered them into larger files which I then used in a new project.
For some reason, which I do not know, I was able to make a DVD NTSC (mpeg2) video file out of these four .AVI files. The program locked up at 99% but the file had already been created so I guess I'm okay.
Did you ever figure out what was going on with your program? Ulead's Tech Dept. (which evidently only works by e-mail) told me to uninstall VS9 and delete all the folders in my C:\DocumentsandSettings\AllUsers\ApplicationData directory. I guess I'll try that next.

installing full version after uninstalling trial version
There definitely appears to be a problem with VS9 when installing the full version after uninstalling trial version. I have seen a few people refer to this problem, and there doesn't appear to be a clear-cut way around it, short of wiping out your HDD and reinstalling the OS, then reinstalling VS9.
I guess I just got lucky, because I haven't had many problems with VS9 (short of a few video/audio codec issues) after uninstalling trial version and installing full version.
