Audio not captured

When I try to copy VHS home movies using version 6 , the audio does not appear to be captured , if I use Windows Moviemaker the audio is captured(so connections are correct) , why can't I get audio with Ulead ?

Cm'on lizard -- you can't really expect an answer when you don't really provide any info we can sink our teeth into, do you? "Hi I can capture OK with one program but not the other -- help"... Please tell us what you are capturing from and to, what version of VS you are using, hell, what version of Windows you are using, and what your computer set-up is too. What is your capture device, how is it connected to your computer. what steps are you taking... at least give us something!!!

Yes , I had already done a search , and I had already followed the thread mentioned above , none of these was any help.
I thought I was on a winner when it was suggested to check the audio settings for recording - but alas no .
I use a Belkin high speed DVD creator - connection via USB for video & 2->1 audio connection to audio input on front of NEC versa M540 laptop - running Windows XP ... is version 6 of Video Studio 6 - SE - DVD

Have you opened your audio properties and enabled line input recording?

Yes , have already done that , even moved the slider close to top .
