Okay gang, long time no write. I'm working on a project and I'm hoping I don't have to re-capture a section of video. I've completed a project and I'm creating a video file (NTSC) using NTSC DVD settings (I've created dozens of projects on this setting). After the file is complete it's perfect on the VS8 playback. However, when I review in in Windows Media Player, there is a point where my video and audio get out of sync. The audio actually gets a little ahead of the video so that you hear the sounds before you see the action. I've narrowed down the start of the phenomenon to a point where it looks like there is a little "glitch" in the video (dropped frame?) and at that point the sync issue begins and seems to get worse as the video goes on.
The problem duplicates itself no matter what setting I use to create the mpeg file. Even a .WMV file didn't work. So my questions are: 1) Any clue how to fix this short of recapturing the video (This was an MPEG capture). Also, why is it matched perfectly within the project playback AND when the finished video file plays back in VS8????
Many thanks for all of your time and help on this. I did search the site before posting.

I had sort of the same problem. In clip mode it would play fine, in project mode it was out of sync.
A solution for me was to uncheck Perform Smartrender in the Share>Create Video File phase of the recommended procedure.
BTW - I have since upgraded to version 9 and have no OOS issues.

Although it plays-back OK, your MPEG is corrupted. I call it "sneaky" file corruption because the problems don't show-up 'till you render. Also, why is it matched perfectly within the project playback AND when the finished video file plays back in VS8????
I got the sneaky corruption when I edited MPEGs. Will your capture device let you re-capture in AVI/DV format? I bought a special-purpose MPEG editor, but I probably should have bought a new capture card. This was an MPEG capture.
Did you search for "sync"? You should have found enough suggestions to keep you busy experimenting for a week!I did search the site before posting.
