Can anyone explain this?
After creating a video (16:9) DVD PAL, default settings.
This message shows:"Failed to open the MPEG encoder (2000:1:1)"
When I take a look at the file in WinDVD it looks all right.
It also look almost as good in WinMediaPlayer.
I have created almost the same file a month ago without any
strange messages, all that is changed is that I skipped some
of the video filters in a couple of very short scenes.
Now when I try I get the "Failed to...." all the time
regardless of any settings or project.
I wonder what has happened. Nothing new has been installed.
I have a second (80GB) harddrive dedicated to video.
There is no Internet connection on the coputer I use for this.
Failed to open MPEG encoder???
This has happened to me a few times on MSP7. It usually went away after a reboot.
It looks like there is a problem with the Mpeg encoder being loaded to play the video you just rendered. Something may have overwritten the file, or the computer may think the file is already in use and so refuse to load it..
If you haven't already, you could try a re-boot, sometimes that frees up some files that have got stuck in the memory somewhere.
If that doesn't work you can always re-install... yay
Good luck!

Hi' there!
Thanks for the quick reply.
I use MSP8 but this never happened in MSP7.
Rebooting doesn't change anything for me.
As You say I also think that the problem is caused by the
Mpeg encoder that loads to play the video after its rendered.
Does anyone know where this encoder is supposed to hide?
If I click "media player" in the file menu Windows Media Player starts,
if it is possible to change this to WinDVD I would be very happy
since the playback is a lot smoother (at least on my machine).
Maybe I will have to delete MSP7 and 6,5?
Anyone??

There must be one of 3 things. Either the Mpeg decoder file is gone, the file is damaged, or somethng is preventing it from opening. My money is on the last one, somehow MSP8 has got itself confused and might be trying to open it twice.
I would try a re-install. I have never had this problem on MSP8, but like I said, I did occasionally on MSP7, usually after I installed some other video converting software.
You can just drag your winDVD player from the 'programs' section of the start menu into the first part of the start menu. I have about 10 of the programs I use most often all sitting in the place on the menu where it usually lists the most recently opened programs. Alternatively, you can enable the quick launch toolbar on the start bar, and drag it down there. I use both.
Right click the start button, go to 'properties' and have a play!
(Or to activate the quick launch toolbar, right click the start bar, go to 'toolbars>quick launch')
Enjoy!
