Hi
Capturing video via usb is not a good idea.
You are capturing Analogue from a Vhs recorder.
Does your top spec computer have a good capture card, if so capture through that using composite or S-video connection.
If you have a digital source then use firewire to capture Dv-Avi. (the best option)
Fill in your PC details in your forum profile, your location would also be helpful.
If you have a digital camcorder that supports ‘through-put’ --pass-through' then you could capture via ‘firewire’ to Dv-Avi using the camera as an interface.
So which version of VS are you using, VS 8 or 9.?????
When using Video Studio press F1 for the help pages, look at Index / Connections
This gives details of some connections including usb.
Hope this Helps

What is the model number of the Video Express device you are using?
Have you made all the proper connections -- analog source out to Video Express Inputs?
Do you have the correct setting for format -- like PAL or NTSC
Do you have the proper inputs selected -- RCA, S-Video, Other...
Is that Video Express unit a hardware mpeg encoder that converts to mpeg and transfers to your pc via USB?
Regards,
George
