XML or Database interface to VS9?

Is there any type of external programming interface to VS9.

I would like to use it as a slide show presenter with many slides which the user can choose from. Take a look at our database driven set of choices

For all this, which is database published to the web, I would like to be able to create VS9 objects as part of the driving database.

Are there any XML or API's ways to connect? Or any other connections?
