Check your BIOS setup for your installed hard drives/CD ROM, it may be they arn't being dected right.

You may be right about your primary IDE Controller, since nothing is identified when connected. Have you tried new cables?

BIOS isn't picking up my hard drive, but my DVD & CD-ROM are detected. I've switched cables as well....and still not seeing my hard drive.

I then hooked my harddrive up to Secondary IDE as SM. I put my a CD-ROM and DVD-RW onto primary IDE as PM, PS and it only picked up one of them!
and later
BIOS isn't picking up my hard drive, but my DVD & CD-ROM are detected. I've switched cables as well....and still not seeing my hard drive.
Sorry I am starting to get a little lost, What combinations work / don't work
You may be correct about the primary IDE. If you can get the Hard drive to work on the secondary IDE and a DVD drive to work using whatever combination enables it, at least you have some breathing space to enable you to upgrade the motherboard.

Well.....it's been decided that I'm not going to pursue this further. I've taken out my harddrive and installed it on another pc as a slave drive....and all works fine.

I'm still convinced it has something to do with my Primary IDE...and i'm going to leave it as that. maybe down the road i'll try more with it, but for now....i'm 'giving up'.

Thanks again everyone for your help----it's been appreciated!
