Chapters!!

Post by dansand »

With VideoStudio6 SE, is it possible to divide the captured movie into chapters..... so when you finally come to watch the movie on DVD player, ya'll be able to skip to next chapter at the press of a button? Also is it possible to have a chapter selection screen?

I don't know about version 6 but 7 and I will assume 8 have that ability.
Now using Adobe Premiere and Photoshop

Version 8 does indeed have that ability.

Well, I have unsuccessfully tried to put in chapters, but not menu scenes. In VS8, every time I generate chapters, it's always in 2 tiers. I will be presented with the main page (track), and can only access the chapter after selecting the main track. Can I skip the track since I've only 1 video? Thanks.

Unfortunately, no. UVS doesn't support putting chapters in the main menu. DVD Workshop can do this.

DVD MovieFactory 3.0 lets you bypass the Title menu -- so you can just have a Chapter Menu if you want...

You can use VS 8 to make chapters without a main menu, but you do not get the menu or chapter screens.

When playing the dvd you can use the remote to jump to the next chapter.

You could try it in Video Studio, and see the results in the player prior to the burning window.

Or you can render your different chapters individually then insert them into a new project. Then after you choose your chapter points they will all be on the "main" screen. It's not a big deal if you have a few chapters. If you have many you may want to take the advice of the posts above.

A commercial movie DVD has a chapter menu. The user can either view the whole movie without interruption or go to the chapter menu. Can DVD MF3 make a DVD that works the same way as a commercial DVD?

Both MF3 and VS8 can do that.
