Burning Problems
I just upgraded from PS2 to PS4. I dont have a DVD burner so I have to burn a SVCD in order to watch slideshows on television. After building my slideshow I attempt to burn to SVCD only to get a "burn failure" message after about 45 minutes of processing. It compiles a disc image file but just wont complete the burn process. I was able to burn one disc by using Burn-it program, but now it wont even do that.
Ulead Tech support wont respond to my help requests (3 times now) so I'm hoping that someone out there might help.
I did go back to PS2 and tried to burn a SVCD and now it wont work either. My CD writer works fine with everything except Pictureshow.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Ed,
One thing I'd suggest right off the bat is that you make yet another attempt to contact tech-support, once again explaining that you're having serious problems with the upgrade version. Ask if it would be possible to get a link for the FULL version download. They may or may not accommodate your request but if so, that would be optimal. You'd then be able to perform a "clean install" which would include removing ALL the baggage from PS2 and the PS4 upgrade.
In the meantime, which PictureShow version do you currently have installed? PS2, PS4 or both? Rather than run through all of the possible scenarios, let me know where things stand and I'll try to make a few suggestions for you.

Hi Michael,
I'll try contacting Tech support again as you suggest.
I currently have both PS2 and PS4 installed. When I installed PS4 it installed in a seperate folder and did not change any thing in PS2 folder.
When PS4 would not work, I uninstaled PS2 and later reinstalled it when Ver4 still would not work. It also installed to its own folder. I've tried un-installing both and reinstalling PS2 then PS4. Still no luck.
I'll try Tech Support again, but they have not paid me the courtesy of a reply to my previous requests.
Thanks for trying to help me.

Ed,
This procedure worked perfectly for me when I ran into the same problem upgrading from MovieFactory 3 to MovieFactory 4. Although this is not a "clean install" hopefull it will do the trick with PS4. It will take some time with all the disk cleanup and rebooting.
----------------------------------------------------------
Uninstall PS2 and PS4 (if currently installed)
Delete Ulead DVD PictureShow folders from C:\Program Files (if they have remained after uninstalling the programs)
Delete Ulead DVD Picture Show folders - Path = C:\Documents and Settings > Your Name > Application Data > Ulead Systems > Ulead DVD Picture Show ***
Delete Ulead DVD Picture Show folders - Path = C:\Documents and Settings > All Users > Application Data > Ulead Systems > Ulead DVD Picture Show ***
Run Disk Cleanup on Dirve C and reboot
Install PS2
Run Disk Cleanup on Dirve C and reboot
Install PS4
Run Disk Cleanup on Dirve C and reboot
Uninstall PS2
Run Disk Cleanup on Dirve C and reboot
Go to Add/Remove Programs and select Ulead DVD And Picture Show 4. After clicking the Change/Remove button, select and run the REPAIR option.
Try using PS4 and see if it's working properly.
*** You will need to temporarily enable the "show hidden files and folders" option for these steps. My Computer > Tools > Folder Options > View > Show hidden files and folders. You can change the setting back to "hide" when you're through.

PS 4 burning problems
Thanks for all the help Michael,
I did as you suggested and it still won't burn,
The darn thing goes thru the whole process and creates a disc image file and starts the "writing to disk" process. It gets about 50% done, ejects the disc and gives me the "Fail to burn" message.
In any event I'm tired fooling with it. I guess I just got ripped off by Ulead.
Thanks again for your help.

Thanks for the follow-up EdEd DuBroc wrote:Michael, Thought I'd update you on the problems you tried to help me with.
I installed a liteon DVD burner and still could not get PS4 to work.
I dumped PS4 and downloaded Proshow Gold Ver 2.6. It worked the very first try and has been working great since. Great Program and worth the 70 bucks.
Ed
For some, PS4 is a finiky/fragile program. I've never had any serious issues with it but many are plagued with frustrating problems that simply can't be resolved. PS4 has it's place in my arsenal but I have to agree ProShow Gold 2.6 is the Mac Daddy of slideshow apps and seems to be far more robust. It's a joy to use and in my opinion well worth the asking price!
