Steve it won't install. I followed your instructions re: double clicking. I disabled Norton and my spyware, shut down and restarted the computer and tried again. I got a warning about opening an .exe file and answered yes to do it and just when I think its going to go - nothing.

I've taken another look at the list of files you pasted.
Your Quicktracks.exe is a different size to mine
You do not mention the other file Full Spectrum 22.k.exe
My Disk 1 (Program) reads:

D:\Program\UVS9\SmartSound\Quicktracks.exe file size = 9,647 KB
D:\Program\UVS9\SmartSound\Full Spectrum 22k.exe file size 84,553KB

Well Steve I've been accused of being blind in one eye and can't see out the other before but it's usually when my husband sends me to the garage for some tool. However, I don't see a FullSpectrum 22k exe file here do you?

Another thing the picture/color on my VS9 cds are not clear or sharp nor are they labeled as one & two or anthing else so one would know which is which. I am wondering if they were out and since VS10 was being released in a week or two they just copied some.

So what do you make of it that D:\Program\UVS9\SmartSound\Full Spectrum 22k.exe file is not on my disk(s)?

I guess this is “back-up CD” of UVS9 from Element 5.

Could you please try the following steps. I hope this helps.

[Steps]

1) Clean up temp files from\Start menu\Programs\Accessories\System Tools\Disk Cleanup.

2) Uninstall VideoStudio 9 from control panel Add/Remove programs

3) Delete following folders

=>C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio

=>C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\SmartSound Software Inc

=>C:\Documents and Settings\Your log-in name\Application Data\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio

=>C:\Documents and Settings\Your log-in name\My Documents\Ulead VideoStudio

=>C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ulead Systems\

4) Reinstall VideoStudio 9 again

Will try this evening Steve and let you know how it goes. Thanks so much for trying to help.

BTW just for info sake to do a disk cleanup of temp files do as you instructed above and then go to Start Menu>Run and type in %temp% and you will be surprised how many temp files are left after the system tools method.

No go Steve. I would say that I don't have Smart Sound on the CD.

I tell ya the CDs look like something home copied. In fact I just ordered a printer to print on CDs/DVDs and I'm hoping it does a better job. They aren't even hub printed. Also the CDs on the other side look half copied - you know how the ones that you do at home look and you only used half the cd.

Marlene,

The discs thatyou have are the Back up CDs. Those are like the one I received when I purchased VS9. They have your name printed on them. Mine came with only the main VS9 Program, no smartsound. I had to download that, using the "Dumb" download. Once I got all the content packs downloaded I burned all of them onto a disc so I would not have to download again.

Have you tried downloading the content packs? I would use the links provided in Steve's General Information section..

Like Steve, I feel your discs, (and if you just ordered the back-up cd, why would they send 2) are not legitimate, or at least a poor excuse for a copy. When I purchased mine, They also came from a Canadian source. I had to request another CD, the first one was corrupt and would not install without several errors. (They, refers to having to request another due to corruption on the first).

Just to clarify vidomans post. What He is trying to say is that we think it is possible you may have been the innocent victim of a spoof website.
If not then it seems that the goods being supplied by Element 5 have deteriorated in quality somewhat. Either way it looks like Ulead need to supply you with some replacement discs.

Can you tell me anything about how it came about you got it from a Canadian source? You have no idea how much money that may have saved me! Ulead charged me $32.13 Canadian S&H., plus $1.95 Export Fee and THEN UPS hit me with another $21.59 when they delivered it. Total just to get the disks was $55.67. I have resolved in the future to never order anything that ships UPS no matter how much I want something. Then to add insult to injury I didn't even have my invoice from Master Card yet and a new edition was announced.

I may have gotten to a spoof website but I honestly don't think so. When it was coming close to the time my trial version would be running out I got an e-mail that I could get 10% off. When I went to the Ulead site I used that coupon number to get and got 10% off and I registered with them.

However, after it was all done and I had these two disks (actually three I got the Charlie Hills one too) it cost me $182.10 Canadian including the big $14.05 discount for this program that isn't working.

If I could get it from a Canadian site I am tempted to ask them if they will give me VS10 if I pay the S&H.

Steve I noticed you also have ProShow Gold. I too have this program and ordered the boxed version upgrade for a total of $19.95 S&H and you can well imagine the size of the box was much larger than three disks from Ulead that came in a padded envelope. The boxed version of VS should be no more than that.

Well thanks for letting me vent. I will let you know what happens if I hear from Ulead. And please Ron I want to hear about getting it from a Canadian site.

Marlene,

This is embarassing :oops:, to say the least. I appologize, but after reading your post I went and dug out my VS9 discs. I didn't find what I was after. Howeve after further digging I found where I got the idea that the disc came from a Canadian source. I didn't order from Canada, in fact it came bundled with my ATI-AIW video card...

Image

That's where I thought that the disc came from Canada... The Replicated in Canada on my Video Studio 5.0 disc.

Again I appologize...

No biggie Ron. With the Canadian dollar so high whether you get shipments from Canada or the U.S. the dollar difference shouldn't make any difference anyway.

Its just that I was charged over $32 for a light padded envelope by Ulead and less than $20 by Photodex for an actual package that included over a 300 page manual. In this case the problem isn't the postal system its the company. I just checked CanadaPost.ca and to send the envelope with contents back to Ulead would cost me anywhere from $6 to $11 depending on method of shipment.
