C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\SmartSound Software Inc\Libraries

Sorry I cant post any screen shots because the would be meaningless to you as I have several extra smartsound libraries installed.
Yes in the sound files are the music files that I "own".
In the libraries file are the three I posted a screen shot of.

So am I missing the stuff in my libraries file that Ken mentioned or is there something else too do you think? If that's all I am missing I wonder if someone could e-mail them to me. Failing that should I go through the whole delete and download again? I've lost track of how many times I've done that.

I do thank all of you that are trying to help me here. Most of the time I don't consider myself a dummy when it comes to these things but this program is driving me nuts.

I opened the CD's I received from Ulead and I could not find a Full Spectrum 22.sdx, 44.sdi or 44.ico. The only thing I found that I thought might help was a Full Spectrum 22k.blx.

Try rebuilding your smartsound libraries.
1. Open VideoStudio (Version 9 or 10)
2. Click the Audio Tab
3. AutoMusic
4. SmartSound Quicktracks
5. Rebuild Smartsound Libraries.

I did go through the whole thing from the above link. I just opened the files off the setup CD last night to see if I could find the files that Ken referred to that I didn't have.

Steve:

Your Instructions:
The location of your smartsound libraries etc are located here:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\SmartSound Software Inc
and also here:
C:\Program Files\SmartSound Software

In addition there are entries in the Windows Registry here:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SmartSound Software]
and also here:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SmartSound Software]

Try renaming each of the above
A simple x at the end of the entry will do example
C:\Program Files\SmartSound Software
becomes
C:\Program Files\SmartSound Softwarex
(This makes it all reversible - you can always revert the entries back again.)

Now place Video Studio 9 Disk 1 into your DVD drive and run the following
D:\Program\UVS9\SmartSound\Quicktracks.exe
I renamed all of the above files and then when I go into setup and navigate to the D drive the Ulead file in there says: uvs9_na_e_RTM_3_.exe

I copied and pasted the D:\Program\UVS9\SmartSound\Quicktracks.exe from your instructions and I then received this message:

D:\Program\UVS9\SmartSound refers to a location that is unavailable. It could be on a hard drive on tis computer, or on a network. Check to make sure that the disk is properly inserted, or that you are connected to the Internet or your network and then try again. If it still cannot be located, the information might have been moved to a different location.

I do have two disks but I do believe they are exactly the same.

Am I missing something here?

If I was to download VS-10 would it run as a completely different program from VS-9? I was thinking of trying it and see if all worked there. Mind you it may not have the files that are giving me grief anyway. I never did try SmartSound when I had the trial version of 9.

There isn't a file named uvs9_na_e_RTM_3_.exe on the Ulead Setup discs.
The Setup Discs are a set of two.

Disc 1 "Program"
Autorun.exe
Autorun.inf
Setup.exe
ulAR.cfg
Folders:
Document
Program
Setup
Utilities

Disc 2 "Extra Content"
Autorun.exe
Autorun.inf
Setup.exe
ulAR.cfg
Folders:
Audio
C3DSE
DVD Content
Image
Setup
Tutorial
Video

I suspect you have a downloaded file rather than a disc supplied by Ulead. If so
Using Windows Explorer navigate to your file uvs9_na_e_RTM_3_.exe
right click and using Winzip extract to folder. This should extract the uvs9_na_e_RTM_3_.exe file into a number of folders probably very similar to Disc 1 above and will include a setup.exe.

Smartsound
This is in fact a seperate program from VideoStudio and is activated by a number of supported programs - there are several
VideoStudio 9 and above
MediaStudio 8
Various competitors programs
Pinnacle Studio
Cyberlink Power Director
Various others.

There is also a Standalone version of Smartsound called Sonic Fire Pro.
The music files for one will be shared amongst all of the others.

Steve here is a picture of one of the disks I got from Ulead (there are two that look exactly alike).

Here is a screen shot of what comes up when I open the D drive (both say exactly the same thing.)

So what do you suppose is going on? I purchased the program directly from the Ulead site and purchased the disks. Any suggestions as to what I should do?

I've no doubt the disc is legitimate, just different parts of the world, yours is from a Canadian supplier, mine is British.

Looking at your Disk 1 You have the Smartsound.exe file located at

D:\Program\UVS9\SmartSound\Quicktracks.exe

Further above you mentioned copy and pasting it - no don't do that, double click it instead, it will start to install.
