Audio Problem

Post by OBlue »

Hi,
This kind of has something to do with VS9, and I need to fix my problem before I buy it.

I bought a a video grabber made by Linxcel about a month and a half ago. The problem is this: when I transfer video to my computer, the visual works great, but the audio... is not there! :( My warranty has expired for the grabber (3 days! What a joke), and I would be happy for any info I could get. Thanks,
Trevor

It would also be essential to know exactly how you have your camera connected to the device. I see from the website, that the Linxcel device you have has both S-video and the red-white RCA audio composite plugs plus the yellow RCA for video if your camera or source does not have S-video. If by chance you are connecting only to your camera's S-video jack, you need to know that S-video only carries the video stream and no audio. So you have to connect the grabber also to the camera's composite output jack or jacks if it has stereo sound. From what I can see, both video and audio would then be carried to the computer via USB. However, I can't quite make out the small photo on the site, and it seems as though there may be a separate black plug beside the USB plug. If so, then this is likely to be a standard stereo plug which would carry the audio, and it would probably need to be plugged into your computer's LINE-IN jack.

I looked up your device and the audio output is a phone jack that must be connected to your audio card's line input as Ken suggested.

I have the same problem , I am trying to copy my video home movies to DVD , but no audio comes through - settings appear to be correct . When I use Windows Moviemaker the audio comes through ok ..... but I can't use that for DVD quality .

If you've connected the leads correctly as mentioned above by Ken but you still do not get sound it is possible that you have not got the correct setting in the windows volume control.

1. Right click the volume control icon in the taskbar (next to the time at bottom right corner of your computer screen)
2. Select "Open Volume Control"
3. Select Options, Properties
4. Now click the little circle that says adjust volume for recording
(Playback is selected by default.) then the OK button.
5. Because your sound is coming from the Line In on your sound card, tick the box below that column.
6. Adjust the volume slider for that column.

sjj1805,
Thanks, but I don't see what that has to do with my problem? I am trying to get the audio to my computer, not my T.V. :)

THAT'S RIGHT!!!
DON'T SEND THE AUDIO TO THE TV.
SEND THE AUDIO TO THE COMPUTER SO YOU CAN CAPTURE IT.
USE THE SAME AUDIO LEADS THAT WOULD CONNECT TO THE TV, JUST CONNECT THEM TO YOUR COMPUTER/CAPTURING DEVICE INSTEAD OF THE TV.
