Hi,
For some reason, I can't get any of my motion background videos to display - even on systems that had been working up until recently. I can header the audio and even see motion buttons, but the background remains black. Please note that "Motion menu" is checked and "Solid background color" is unchecked. This began happening after a power-loss crash. Should I reinstall DVDWS2 or is some other simple explanation out there? Anyone else experiencing this?
Thanks,
Big Al Mintaka

When I've had problems after a power crash I generally find that you have to carry out a few steps. You haven't completed your system specifications on your profile page but I will take it your using windows XP.Alan Mintaka wrote:Hi,

1. Open a run box from the START tab.
2. Type CMD in the "open" box and then click OK.
3. A black DOS like screen will appear.
4. Type chkdsk /F
A message will appear
Press Y and enter."Chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in use by another process. Would you like to schedule this volume to be checked the next time the system restart? (Y/N)"
Now shutdown and restart your computer.
When the process has completed if you still have the problem, rather than spending hours trying (possibly in vain) to find which file(s) have become corrupted it is often quicker and simpler to go for a re-install.
Often you get away with a sudden power failure. The problem occurs if a power failure occured whilst the computer was in the process of writing to the hard drive(s) at that time.

RE: motion menu video is blank! Reinstall fixed it
Hi Steve,
Thanks for the info. I did both a chkdsk /F and a reinstall to be on the safe side. It worked! I even successfully made my first dual-layer recording today. DVDWS is running like a clock now.
Thanks again,
Big Al Mintaka
