Version 8_ Changing Settings_Multiple Volume_Help

Post by emedwhat »

Currently, I am using Video Studio Version 8. I am trying to make a DVD by using Movie Wizard. At the final step, as you know, there is a page which gives the final info such as output settings, disc burner etc. Since my video file is big, it requires 13.0 Gb HD space, 7 Gb DVD space. Ulead is trying to use my C partition which does not have enough space. But D partition has enough space. How can I change the se  ttings from C to D? My empty DVD is 4.7 Gb. It means that my DVD should be two parts. By using Video Studio can I create Volume 1 and 2 for DVD movie?

Hi Emedwhat, welcome to the boards..:)

1. To change the location of working folders go to File-->Preferences, which will open a dialog box having 4 tabs.
2. On the first tab, locate the Working Folder, which is the 3rd from the bottom. Click on the button on the right side. Now you can navigate to your D partition and set the working folder there.
3. Then click on the Preview Tab. Here you will see 4 options to set for preview. The first is generally set by default to a Temp folder. You can navigate to a differant drive/partition using any of the other 3.

With VS8 I don't think it is possible to span disc volumes. I think it will just tell you the file is too big to fit on a disc. You could try a free program called DVD Shrink. You would burn your project to your hard drive, ie; Create DVD Folders, then use DVD Shrink to try to compress it to fit on a single disc. I think that the size of your project will be way too big even for that.

Try splitting your project into a couple of videos, say each being 3.5 gig. Open a new project, bring in your video. Find a good place to cut the video. Cut it and delete the second half. Now go to share create video and render it. It shouldn't take long. Then repeat the process, however deleting the first half. Now you should have 2 videos, place video 1 on Disc 1 and Video 2 on disc 2..

Hope that helps..

You need to be aware that there is a _second_ working folder setting you need to change in the burning module itself. This is for temp or other files created during the burning process. It is generally set by default to the same folder as the general one referred to by vidoman. You can find it after you open the burning module, in the first of the two icons in the bottom left of screen. Again you will see Preferences, and when you open that, another Working Folder which you will need to change to the D:\ drive as well.
