Removal of unwanted portions

Post by Kadish »

I have a DVD which I imported into my hard disk using Movie Factory4. Now I would like to edit this imported file first by deleting sections of it.

I'm a complete novice at using this Ulead program. What I'd like to know is whether I can delete a portion, then without starting at the beginning of the file, continue until the next portion to be deleted is reached, delete it, and so on.

Can anyone advise me?

There are various versions of DVD MovieFactory.
For instance you will NOT be able to do the following with the version that ships with MediaStudio8.

The procedure with DVD MovieFactory Disc Creator is:
1. Start a new project.
2. Add Media.
3. Below the "Add Media" icons is a section "Add/Edit Chapter" and to the right of that are two downward pointing arrows. (Click)
4. Now Select "Multi Trim Video"
5. Use the "Start/End" buttons to mark various sections of the video you wish to keep. Each marked section will create a new thumbnail at the bottom of the screen.
6. Press OK to complete the process and return to the previous screen. If you now preview that video it should have cut out the unwanted portions.

If you want to do something more exotic like adding transitions between these trimmed clips you would find it easier with VideoStudio 9

Another method for easily "removing unwanted sections" could be to "hide" the chapter (in the add chapter step).

This helps to remove things like commercials if you record a broadcast to your computer. It avoids any re-encoding by the program, and uses your capture "asis"

The resulting dvd will still have the "hidden" sections (like commercials), but during normal playback it will skip over those sections...
