Photo Express Plus 4.0 problem with XP Media Center

Elsewhere in the forums there were suggestions on getting Photo Express to work with Windows XP. I'm having completely different results than those posted there.

On my old system, which I am in the process of replacing, the program installs and runs fine "without" requiring compatibility mode under Windows XP Pro.

But on my new system, running Windows XP Media Center Edition, I do have to use compatibility mode (Win98/Me) in order to run. Otherwise, clicking on the object just shows the hourglass for a few seconds and then nothing else happens.

I don't understand the reason for the difference.
