Following the proper procedure I have captured
AVI files from a DV camcorder. I have finished editing and have created an MPEG2 video file prior to burning to DVD. Can I now safely delete the original AVI files and not jepordize my project or is there still some "link" between the new MPEG2 video file and the original AVI files? VS9.
Thank You
Wayne
MPEG2 Video File Created/Can I now safely delete AVI files?

The MPEG file is a stand-alone file.
I have a dedicated drive for my video files, and I usually delete all of the files when I'm done with a project. Or, before I start a new one...
Just make sure you're really-really-really done with your editing!
Oh... Whenever I burm a DVD or CD, I make a back-up / archive copy... I have a drawer-full (mostly CDs).

You can delete the "source" files if you wish but you will not be able to resurrect the project if you want to further edit or extend the project.
I always copy all my project production assets, including video clips, still images, music, project files, etc. to a DVD as data files. That way I can quickly copy an entire project back to the computer and pick up where I left off...
