Installing the Ulead DVD Menu Plug in 2.0

Download and install the following zip file.

To work correctly you must have Photo Impact 11 installed in the default installation directory. Unzip the file to C: and ensure you have the “Use Folder Names” box ticked.

When you re-start Photo Impact 11 you will find the DVD Menu plug in located under the “Effect” list on the toolbar.

Highlight Images.

For a “Home Made” Highlight Image to work correctly you must make sure that you have converted the “Object Type” to become a “Path Object”

Background Video/Audio

You can have a moving background video rather than a simple background image.
You can do this easily with the DVD Menu Plug in.
On the “Assign Object Name” Tab drill down the list on the right until you arrive at “IMG_BG” and click the entry.
Now on the Bottom left of the Dialog box
Object Class = Background

Item = Background Image.

2 drop down boxes now appear where you can select a video to be used as your backdrop. If this video also contains sound you do not need to select anything in the second drop down box “Background Audio.”


Ah well..... I shall put it into a bit more detail later on but my wife has told me I'm sitting at the computer too much and have to paint the ceiling

seems you found a way to install the "old" plugin into PI11, which I had also tried some time ago without success (maybe I had missed some files or so). I wonder why ULEAD is not updating their installer.

I had to ask Ulead Tech Support a question whilst creating my 29 page tutorial, (I didn't want to leave any loose ends out.) That's when they explained to me how to get the old Menu Plug-in to work with version 11.

I think the plug-in may need tweaking a bit though as the plug-in still only lists DVD Workshop 2 in the list of templates and also it only seems to work with 4.3

Not a problem though, you can still follow my tutorial and create 16.9 menus and also you can use them in other Ulead authoring programs
(even those created with the help of the plug-in)

TIP
If you try to create a 16.9 and get "stuck" with the naming conventions or background videos etc, quickly knock up a 4.3 menu and then use the DVD plug-in to find the answer!
