Rendering to 8Gb on local folder halves the video
I am trying to render a DVD collection of mm8 films. I have all the films on my hard drive in mpeg format, all aligned and titled and ready in the timeline to be rendered. I ask VS to create the DVD folders on the local drive ready for an 8Gb DVD. It works for 5 hours, finishes ok, but when I play the results from the drive only the menu appears, the playback does not work, it only totals half the required size (4Gb), and trying to burn it Nero gives out en error in the video structure of the DVD, preventing me from burning it. Why does VS stop when it reaches helf the required size? I have set it to handle an 8Gb DVD format alright in preferences... Thanks for any hints. Gabriele
Are you creating a DVD Image file, or the DVD Folders?
Are your drives NTFS or Fat32? Fat32 will have a limit of 4gb files -- so if you are creating an IMAGE file, could that be the problem?
btw, are your videos in mpeg format already DVD Compliant? If so, you could have the software NOT re-compress them by checking the option to "Do not convert compliant files"

George

Thanks George. I am on Fat32 but I am creating folders & files, not the ISO image file. It just creates 4 1Gb files plus a handful of IFOs and BUPs, then it tells me it's done, but nothing works beyond the menus. I didn't know about compliance, I guess they are compliant, they were files created by VS from a DV Sony videocamera, I'll try the "Do not convert compliant files" option. Otherwise, I'm really lost... Cheers, Gabriele
