I recently bought my first video camera (Panasonic GS 19) and then purchased a firewire card and firewire online. The card came with a CD copy of VS 6 Basic. Everything installed without a hitch, but when I try to Capture video I get an error message of:

File Format Mismatch
Captured file cannot be inserted into the timeline.
The file may be corrupt.
Do you want to delete this file?

I have tried all the various template formats and continue to get the same message. What am I doing wrong? Need help!!!!!!!!! Al :?:

Hi birdhunter,

welcome to the forum!

To be honest, I would recommend you download the "try before you buy" trial version of Video studio 9 from the Ulead website. It's around 177Mb as I recall, and will allow you to play around for 30 days before it expires.

My fist experience of Video studio was with 7 SE Basic that came bundled with a cardbus firewire card and cable. It's lack of DVD output capability soon prompted me to try the full VS7 trial, and I soon updated to VS8. VS9 has a lot of improvements and new features that it's well worth considering. Your VS6 Basic may qualify you for an upgrade rebate, too.

Other than that, you might post details of your system, or fill in the "system" info in your profile. I trust you are capturing with a firewire cable to your pc - and not using the USB connection - bu t post details of what you are doing.

Good luck!

Thanks 2Dogs. I kind of figured I was going to have to update just to get going. I will look into the Try Before you Buy deal.
