DVD Import Failed

Post by buti4 »

hi all,
i just installed ulead workshop 2.. (non-trial version)
but im havng trouble actually importing from a DVD disc... the following msg pops up:
Capture failed. The disc may be damaged or it has copyright protection.

The disc plays well on dvd players. I have a Sony DVD video camera and using the Sony Imagemixer, i burned this dvd. But I'm trying to use Ulead DVDws2 now to edit the video....

Oh and on a further note, the dvd contains 2 chapters: Chapter 1 = Imagemixer Intro Clip. Chapter 2 = actual video.
When i press "import from dvd" in ulead dvdws, Chapter 1 can be imported but not Chapter 2. ..........

Can someone help me plz? thanks!

You could try ripping the dvd to your hard drive first using DVD Decrypter (It's free google for it), then then import from there.

Video Studio and Movie Factory have been updated with an improved DVD import feature (Media Studio too, I think). The trial versions might be worth a shot. (Workshop has not been updated for awhile.)

You can also try VOB 2 MPG (Free!!!)

I don't have any experience of this problem but am repeating what I have heard. DVD Cams have a technique that allows scenes to be shot one after the other etc. To do this, the disc does not conform to DVD standards. For it to do so, you have to do an action, in the camera, like 'close' or 'finalise' the disc (don't know the exact terminology). Only when this is done can it be captured.

Sorry, if this info is wrong, but it's there FWIW
