Been using PI for 2 years -- yesterday my 30-trial expired??

Post by dabalogh »

I'm wondering if someone can help me. I purchased and registered Ulead Photoimpact XL in March, 2004 and have been using it without any problems nearly every day since then.

Last night when I tried using it, I got a pop-up box which indicated that my 30-day trial (!) had expired?? 30-day trial? I have been using this for 2 years after purchasing it for $90.

My only options were to purchase it (again) or reinstall. But when I click on "Reinstall" and provide my name and my Reference Number, which I am stating as the serial number, I get an error message that says:

Transaction Status: Failed
Reason: the information you entered is incorrect. Please check and try again.

I made absolutely no changes to my system in the last couple of days since I used the sw last. But apparently my licensing information is gone? Any suggestions would be most helpful because I'm currently locked out of sw I paid $90 for two years ago.

Hi Dan,

Is your Reference Number actually the Serial number for the program?

If this is registered with Ulead, then go to Ulead's Website, log in, go to My registered products page, and you will find the serial number for all the products you have purchased and registered. Then try using that serial number when you try to install..

Hi Ron,

Yes, I've been using the serial number from the ULEAD website for this registered product. Remember, my sw is now behaving like a trial whose 30-day life has ended ... so I can't even get into the software to see what the sw's serial number is.

I e-mailed Ulead last night (still no response) and softwrap.com, the company listed in the registration box that I am unable to get past (also no response yet).

Since I downloaded this sw two years ago I can't find the original download in order to reinstall it. I'm basically dead in the water right now.

Something within you installation has been corrupted I guess. A simple repair installation might fix that. However, since you do not have the downloaded installation file anymore, that is not an option.

I had a similar problem a few years back, where I reformatted my system disk and found that I could not located my download back up disk for PI XL. I ended up buying the full version PI 10.

I'm sure this is not what you wanted to hear and it doesn't help you in any way but, short of doing something illegal, like providing you with copy of ones own disks, there is nothing anyone could do to help you.

You haven't completed your system details on your profile page.
Are you running Windows XP. If so try the System Restore Option and go back to a date it was working.

Another option, check your system date. if it has by some chance been set to a date BEFORE your installation date, this could also cause a problem, a sort of measure to prevent "Trial period users" turning back the clock!!
