MSP7 SP3 Causes MSP crash

Post by Ron P. »

Hi all,

Thanks to sjj, I have graduated to an almost Prosumer level application. I'm using MSP7 VE. (Hey works for me and my current budget..:) ). The program runs alright, but I thought that before I get to involved I should install the patches, ie; SP3. I downloaded SP3, installed without errors. However after installing the patch, I get an unintelligable error, that has something about Hauppage. I don't have an Hauppage card. MSP then will not run, it just closes down.

Is the SP3 patch suppose to work on MSP7VE?

Also I noticed that the libraries are somewhat lacking, is there a link to components, content packs, where the filters, transitions etc.. can be downloaded?

This is a "Full registered version". Finally got it registered through Ulead..

Thanks

The ULEAD download page for the update patches states this for MSP 7 SP3:
NOTEs:

1. Service pack is for use ONLY with the full version of Ulead® MediaStudio Pro 7.
2. The Service Pack 3 contains all the updates that came with Service Pack 1 (7.01 Update Patch) and Service Pack 2 (Build 7.20.0005 ).
AFAIK, the VE versions are not, in the true sense, full versions. These are bundled with hardware and may or may not be fully functional but they are not full versions. The very fact that you have have problems with SP3 indicates to me that my assumptions are right.

Did you have an issue with MSP 7 SP2 that required SP3 or did you just assume to be better off with SP3? If the latter, I would restore my installation to SP2 and be done with it.

I didn't d/l SP2, because according to the website SP3 contained everything from the previous SPs. I'll try the SP2 and see if it does ok, or mucks it up also.
Yes I thought that the VE edition may not be the Full version, however didn't know for sure, since It did have a registration provision. Also never hurts to try..

Thanks Heinz,
