Another Smart Compositor File

<<See if you can open up Downstairs Video and Mathis and delete them from the list -- that I know of, you cannot delete the drop down menu. Get out of SC and MSP8. Open MSP8 again and then see if Steve's works for you. >>

Maybe I wasn't clear. I can't open up Downstairs Video and Mathis or delete them as I can't find them!! I ran both files, but they don't show up in SC, don't know where they are. The only change to SC after attempting to install Downstairs Video and Mathis was that then Steve's Jones don't work anymore and freeze up and crash MSP 8.

Just another thought for those having problems installing these extra SC files (and thanks to those who are making them). Trying to save the time/trouble of saving the .exe file to my hard drive, navigating to it and then executing it, I simply tried to "run" it from the link (instead of "save"). Although the install seemed to go smoothly with all the right messages, the SC composition did not show up in MSP8. So, I then went ahead and downloaded the file and then ran it from my computer and it worked perfectly.

Tried that, didn't work either. Still nothing showing, and the Steve J one still doesn't work, although it did before I tried downloading the others.

I was having similiar trouble until I went from downloading the files to the just the "c" drive to downloading them to the main MSP8 file under program files. Once I saved them there and ran them from there, they have work flawlessly. It's worth a try!

I still cannot get the dynamics file to work. All the others work with no problem at all. What is the difference?

I keep getting "file does not exist"

I tried this- downloaded again and did a "save to" the MSP8 folder in program files. Interesting results! The MBR Productions now works great. Good job, thanks Mathis. However, both the Steve Jones and the Downstairs Video crash MSP! Go figure. Think Ulead still has a few bugs to work out on this. So Mathis, what did you do different to make it work?

Don,

Mathis wrote in his posting above
Okay, Steve, this is really weird. I downloaded and installed the Smart Composer Creator file this afertnoon, and now the 6 files you created and posted here are working perfectly for me.
Have you installed the Smart Compositor Creater?

Yes, it's installed. Still the same- MBR works great, Downstairs Video and Steve J's crash MSP8. All the other Ulead ones work great. Strange.

Okay, Don, you can *NOW* access Downstairs Videos and Steve's, is that correct?

If so, why don't you try deleting them? Then get out of MSP8, and maybe even reboot, then reinstall them and see if that helps?

Another thing that might have helped me, is that I was looking around in the directories and deleted everything out of the temp directory and the MSP8 Preview Files directory. There were things in there I hadn't used since I upgraded to MSP8. Since MSP8 doesn't ever delete anything off the harddrive, it might have helped for me to delete them, because I was having a problem with lockups on a few of the included SCs and now I'm not. You might try that before you delete Downstairs and Steve's.

Please let us know what happens.

Did that, still the same issues. Sure was a lot of crud in my temp directory though! Guess I have to just live with the installed Ulead SC templates and your MBR Productions.
Thanks for the suggestions though.

For those having problems installing my 6 there are two methods available
Both require that Media Studio Pro is closed when you install and then they should be present when you start Media Studio.

Method 1
Download the traditional Smart Composition "exe" files
http://www.steve-jones.pwp.blueyonder.c ... gPaths.exe
http://www.steve-jones.pwp.blueyonder.c ... Path01.exe
http://www.steve-jones.pwp.blueyonder.c ... Path02.exe
http://www.steve-jones.pwp.blueyonder.c ... ngPath.exe
http://www.steve-jones.pwp.blueyonder.c ... ngPath.exe
http://www.steve-jones.pwp.blueyonder.c ... icPips.exe

Method 2
If method 1 for any reason fails
Download and unzip the following
http://www.steve-jones.pwp.blueyonder.c ... rtcomp.zip

Hey, Don,
Sorry that didn't work. You did say that you installed Smart Composer. Have you attempted to create anything to see if your own creations work for you? Grabbing at straws here, but maybe that will make it kick in??

I was getting frustrated wanting to try your SC templates, so.....I figured it was time to clean all the crap out of my puter anyway, so.....I restored my old Ghost which was made right after formatting and reinstalling MSP8 with everything running great, and.......it wiped out my D Drive in the process of restoring the old C drive, but....I saw that happen before, so I copied my D drive in one of my external HD's before restoring, but....my Copied D drive didn't show up after restoring my C drive, so....I messed up my pants (no, I fired up my file scavenger 3.0 and it got my copied D drive back, whew!!), then I reinstalled the SC, then downloaded all the SC templates, and......same damn thing!!! So, I just plain give up. But MSP8 is running lean and mean again!

The problem I had was that the Steve Jones 6 pack worked and the MBR one also worked but no matter what I did I could not get the Dynamics one to work I just kept getting the message the file did not exist and all the time it sat there in the uct plug in folder. So what I did was open up the file onto the timeline as a dvp and then save it again as a smart compositor project using the design tool. I wrapped it up as an exe file, shut down MSP8 and clicked the exe file and when I reopened MSP8 all was fine.

:D :D :D
