Smart Navi
:) I burnt an Mpeg 2 file on a CD complete with menu. If i play it on my computer using Windows media player I get the menu and it plays fine. When I try it on my DVD player I get the smart navi screen and it has split the video and audio. So I get video but no sound. Any takers on this.

You burnt an MPEG-2 file to a CD
how ???
Did you use the Create disc function in UVS to properly author and burn a VCD or an SVCD on a CD or a DVD on a DVD. you can't just burn a file to a CD and expect it to play correctly on a DVD player - it has to be the right type of file in the right place on whatever disc you are creating.
Could we have a little more detail on what exactly you did to make this CD.

What you have in effect done is produce what is called a 'mini DVD' i.e. a DVD burned on a CD. Not all that many standalone players will play them. What you have to do is select either VCD format (which will at best produce something about the quality of a VHS tape, though you can get around an hour on a CD) or SVCD (much better quality -- about 35 - 40 minutes to a CD). Older and brand name players may also not play either of them, though are more likely to play VCDs than SVCDs. You will have better chances with a more recent player, particularly (oddly enough) the cheaper ones, which seem to play just about anything put into them. The brand name ones still seem to be a bit picky about what they will play.
