more transitions - canopus fx

Post by Ilene »

Has anyone tried using Canopus FX effects with Video Studio 9? I'm wondering if they work, and if so are they as easy to install and use as the Boris FX effects, and the Burgers Transitions?

thanks.

more transitions for video/media studio - canopus video fx

Post by Ilene »

Well I've figured out how to use this package of effects as an add on to Video Studio 9 and it works wonderfully. For $50, it is an investment well worth it as it adds literally hundreds of customizable transition effects to VS9. You can alter backgrounds, change direction, frequency of spins etc on many of the transitions. There is an excellent demo on the canopus website that allows you to preview the available options. I make a lot of photo slides shows, so having a wide variety of creative transitions is of utmost importance. I also use Boris fx, Burgers, and even go outside ulead to Pinnacle Hollywood fx and create mpgs which I import into ulead to get extra effects. this canopus add-on will enable me to get a lot more transitions without having to go out of ulead framework...which will also enable me to have better control over the timing of pictures/transitions.

If you purchase it...here are the directions to install. Install the effects into the default canopus directory. Then call support and ask them to send you the vfx download for ulead, which you unzip and place in the ulead vfx_plug directory. When you open ulead, VFX transition pops up under the Effects tab, then click customize and select the transition that you would like to use.

This is an investment well worth it!

If anyone is interested, I can email them the vfx plug in instead of going through Canopus.

I think you need to make your avatar a lot smaller it is taking over the screen.

Canopus FX
http://www.canopus.com/products/VideoFX/index.php#
bottom left of the screen is a link "Find a dealer" this takes you into a page where you select your part of the globe.

Boris FX
http://www.borisfx.com/

Hi Ilene,

Thanks for posting the Canopus VFX info! I've purchased the download version through the Canopus online store. The transitions look great in the VFX Organizer. All I need now is the plugin for VideoStudio 9. I've sent you a PM with my email addy. When you have the time could you please email the file?

Thanks,
-Mike :-)

Just to add a bit of additional info, I purchased the download version of VideoFX and it works great in VS9. These are excellent transitions indeed! After registering the software I logged into my user account and discovered three additional downloads...

1) A general update for the VideoFX software
2) A bonus 3D Christmas transitions package
3) User Guide PDF

Lastly, if you don't want to install on "C" (the default path), "D" works fine. Once the VFX plugin has been depositied in VS9's vfx_plug directory, VS9 will automatically link to the VideoFX component.

Thanks again to Ilene for passing along the info :D

canopus vfx

Post by Ilene »

You're welcome. I was happy to pass on the good advice. I've been using the vfx transitions a lot and they are working just great!

Is there a way for me to post the "plug in" and the directions on this website...this way I don't have to keep forwarding it along to anyone who sends me a PM?

let me know.

If anyone else has any good transition tips besides Canopus, Burgers and Boris, I'd be interested in knowing.

Also would love to have more filters, overlays, motion filters etc. and intro/ending video files. I'd especially like a filter for SNOW...i don't get why they did rain, clouds and no snow!

If you are wanting 3D effects, then you would need to use Cool 3D PS, or there is also a Flash 3D program, called Swift 3D. It is a bit pricey though. With Swishmax you can not do the actual 3D, it has to be faked, and can be, but is somewhat difficult to pull off and look decent.

I would say that between them if you are wanting to use 3D, then get Cool 3D PS. It has the ability to export to SWF format also.
