Error Message 4570 or 4101

Post by Winifred »

VS9 will not create a disc, error message 4570 Failed to use converted cache file (4570) or Convert files got some problems (4101). I know this problem has been posted before. I have noticed that when I receive an error message the created video file is labelled video clip and was captured and saved as an .avi. I do not get the message when I try to burn one of my older captured files with the extension .mpg. I do not specity either .avi or .mpg when I capture, VS9 does all that as I use the DV scan method of capturing. The format for capturing is DV. This is a problem which has occured out of the blue. In my video folder the .avi video files show the first frame, for the .mpg video created files they have a Windows Media Player icon. Am I doing something wrong when capturing. Previously when I was editing my projects in the .vsp stage, the captured clips had the extension .mpg and now they have .avi.

I would be glad of any help.

Winifred,

The error that you are getting suggests that you may be trying to convert your AVI(DV) file to Mpeg2 at the same time that you are trying to burn a DVD and/or are trying to burn with something in the timeline display.

Are you following the procedure that is spelled out in the top sticky post?

Successful video editing depends on manually controlling your capture properties as well as the properties in every stage of the process.

I have read the sticky you refer to. When I place a captured file into the timeline and receive the message re changing the project settings to match the video properties to enable smart rendering. If I say no to this then I can create a video file (movie file .mpg). If I say yes then a video file is created (video clip). If I then wish to create a disc then the video file .mpg will burn successfully. If I try to create a disc of the created file (video clip) I then receive the error messages and cannot burn a disc. ULead have advised me to do a clean uninstall, but I am so loath to do this as I have had so much trouble in the past with Smartsound plus a couple of other annoying instances. Is smart render essential to the making of a decent DVD?

Hi Winifred,

I find that VS9 only gives me the prompt "Do you want to change the project settings to match the video's properties so VideoStudio can perform SmartRender?" if my video clip is an AVI file. Therefore your source footage is probably one or more AVI files, which is good. You've managed to capture your video OK.
If I say yes then a video file is created (video clip)
I think you are saying that if you say "yes" to changing the project properties to match the first clip, you create an AVI file.

In reality, however, YOU actually have control of the "Share>>Create Video File" step. You can choose from a range of formats, and, if you're in NTSC land, NTSC DVD (4:3) would usually be appropriate.

As John said, it's quite possible that your problem is caused by your trying to make a DVD from a project with video clips on the timeline. This might seem quite logical, especially if you read the Video studio manual. Whilst it's not impossible to create a DVD in this way, the collected experience of the users of this forum strongly suggests that the best way to avoid problems is to follow the .... recommended procedure.

Do re-read John's sticky, and try to follow the procedure it describes - it really does work.

Good luck!

Hi,

Those errors while may have been from as JC stated, however just the other day, I got those same errors.
1. I was trying to burn a disc.
2. I didn't have any project open or in the timeline. I just started a new project, empty timeline, and went to Share-->Create Disc.
3. I then imported a rendered MPEG2, went proceeded to create my menu, then tried to burn.

I don't know what caused the errors, but I had to reinstall to resolve it. So I'm thinking that some how a corrupt file, or missing files can throw the same errors.
I did have MSP 7VE installed, maybe it mucked things up. I uninstalled it, reinstalled VS9 and no more problems. So far I haven't reinstalled MSP..

Regards..

When you try to create a disc have you rendered your AVI file to a compliant MPG file first? If not try that (as per the recommended procedure)
http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic.php?t=27
The following procedure/work flow is recommended when using VIDEO STUDIO because it has had the most success at producing good quality DVDs. In particular, it avoids triggering serious bugs, so please follow the process carefully.

The most important messages in this procedure are:
(1) Always Create a Video File for your project before attempting to burn a DVD,
(2) Never try to burn a DVD with anything in the timeline display,
(3) Never try to burn a DVD using SHARE/Add Project.
(4) Make certain that your BURN properties exactly match your VIDEO FILE properties.

I have several Ulead products all happily installed together
Can you recall the exact error message you received. I think yours will be a different problem to Winifreds. Was it an MPG VIO error by any chance? If so way back in 2003 I had the same problem with DVD Movie Factory 2
I sent in a query to Ulead Tech Support and was given the following answer
-*- ServiceID: 235577 -*- Date:Thursday, October 16, 2003 12:00:21 PM {GMT+08:00} -*-

Dear Steve,

Please copy all the files of the following folder into the DVD MovieFactory installed folder.
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ulead Systems\MPEG
You could try the above - obviously though you have to substitute DVD MovieFactory with your installation folder.

Steve,

First congratulations on a well deserved appointment!!

Now on the error, it was exactly the same error as Winifred's. That's what is surprising. I've been following the recommended procedures, and insuring my properties match all the way through.

I also have had, and still do have several Ulead products installed together. Notice my sig, all (except MSP7 now) installed and working great. It might have been when I tried to install SP3 that caused the havoc. Set aside that, the only thing that had changed was MSP7. Generally rule of thumb, if it was working before and now doesn't, first look at what has changed.

I'll try installing MSP7 again and see if I have the same issues. First I'm not going to install any patches. I may not install any at all for it.

Thanks

Ron,
Thank you. Please keep me updated with the re-installation. If you cannot get it to work I will pop one of my spare Hard Drives into my machine and try and duplicate the problem.

Create Video File Stage: I didn't realise that when you reach this stage, you do not click on "same as project settings" if you captured to .avi file you have to go to "custom" and save it as a .mpg file. It then burns okay.

How do I in fact set the capture properties? and how do I make sure the project settings are the same, I don't know where to find the relevant options. I have always left it to VS9. One of the things I have tried to change is the frame sixe: I don't know where to change the frame size to 29.97 fps - mine seems to default to 25.

Hi Winifred

Please read -------My Quick Guide to Dv-Avi-----

http://www.stephen-wray.co.uk/lata/vs/all.htm

It’s a typical list of the process you should be following.

You say
I don't know where to change the frame size to 29.97 fps - mine seems to default to 25.
This may be ok but.

Where are you in this big wide world, if your program defaults to Pal then I suspect you are NOT in the US, so where are you, update your profile—it will help with replies,,,

Here is a quote from the Ulead VS9 Facts:

" After successfully burning discs for a number of times, I get one of the following messages now when I try to burn: "Report ID 0x800411da (4570)" or, more frequently, "Convert step got some problems (4101)." What should I do?

* Instead of burning the project directly to disc, create a DVD compliant video file first and save it on your hard drive. After creating the file, create a new project and go to Share > Create Disc then insert the newly saved video file. Open the Project Settings dialog box [ Alt + J ] and select Do not convert compliant MPEG files then click OK . Burn the project to disc.

Tip : Refrain from inserting Project files onto the Timeline in Create Disc."

The reason I quoted the text is because the link doesn't take you directly to the Fact. I have learned that if a link doesn't take someone directly what you want they will come back and say they can't find the info.

If you go to this link and scroll down to the Burning Fact you will see the info.

Out of memory

Post by hogyi »

Hi!

I don't know, if it is the right topic, but I want to ask for something.
I've used VS9 for 2 weeks, but I find always the same error. After a while (it means 1 or two minutes working with VS9) it always hang up with Run time error. A checked it with the task manager, and the program used over a 1GB virtual memory. It won't be a problem, but VS9 always increases the memory when I switch between programs (like TaskManager to VS9 and back) or when I go to the timeline, and want to view the entire video I've organized, it requires over a 500 MB memory, even if I put 4 videos with a 2 minutes length.
Could anyone help me to solve this problem?

Thanx
