PI8; unable to download content files with Smart Download

Post by RocckLobster »

I just set up a new computer (home build AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core) and re-downloaded my PI8 software from Element 5 and installed it. After installing the base program, the Smart Download program opened up and prompted me to download other components. The additional software, such as the GIF Animator, Drop Spot, and Photo Explorer downloaded and installed without any problems. However, the other content, such as the Natural Textures and Component Library items refuse to download. When I select any of these items the Smart Download tool goes through the process of reading the file names that will be downloaded but never makes any progress in the actual download; instead, I get a message box indicating 0 bytes were downloaded.

Hi Rocklobster,

Instead of using Smart Download, try downloading from this webpage:

http://www.ulead.com/pi/esd1.htm

It doesn't list PI8, so I don't know if the extra components will work or not. If they will work, I'd burn the files to a disc...

The real answer is "Smart Download" is not very smart and Ulead doesn't seem to care.

I was able to copy the content folders from my old computer onto my new computer and that seems to have worked.

Thanks for the assist!
