It depends on the type of camera you have, and what type(s) of ports your computer has.
The best results will be obtained with a digital camcorder that has a FireWire/IEEE 1394/iLink interface, because the video and sound would be transferred digitally without any loss of quality that results from an analog capture. There are some digital camcorders that have USB interfaces, and provided that they are USB 2.0 and not USB 1.1, the results will also be excellent.
Please provide some more information about the camera and your computer, and we can point you in the right direction.

Digital or analog?
Right. Is it digital or analog?
If it's digital it should have either a FireWire or USB port, and it should have come with software and a cable.
If it's analog (i.e. VHS), you need a Video Capture Card, or a Video Capture Device.
ATI makes the very popular TV Wonder and All In Wonder cards.
Hauppauge also makes a line of video capture cards. (I have one.)
Most of these video capture cards also have a cable/TV input so you can watch TV on your computer, or use your computer as a "TiVo".
Pinnacle makes cards and external boxes that connect between a regular analog video cable, and your FireWire or USB port.
